DailyBulletin.com – Pastor’s curse goes too far for Ontario City Council — Personally I’d like to see more of this sort of thing! Great fun. Kind of like Voodoo!

When Pastor John Sabbath, of Live in Christ Christian Center, got up to speak during the public comment portion of the meeting, he said he was placing a curse on City Manager Greg Devereaux, Devereaux’s wife and his family.

What a charmer!

  1. Higghawker says:

For his part, Leon said Tuesday night that he’s no longer willing to let speakers go on uninterrupted if they are verbally attacking council members or city officials.

“I’m going to stop people in their tracks when I believe they’ve crossed the line,” the mayor said.

Can we expect this kind of behavior, from the mediators?? Are you lashing the whip John?

  2. Tim Harris says:

Well apparently the biggest curse of ’em all has been made from God. It’s official. If we don’t accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior we are all cursed to hell.

  3. Eideard says:

These have been over in the LH column since the beginning of DU time.

  4. moss says:

That’s why meetings run by Roberts Rules of Order allow for a sargent-at-arms.

  5. RTaylor says:

People are tribal. Under perceived stress the behavior gets more aggressive. You don’t have to rise to the top of the food chain based on intelligence. Aggressiveness will get you there too.

  6. catbeller says:

Going back to the roots of religion. Priest = magician.

  7. Improbus says:

Why didn’t I think of this before? Does anyone know where to get Voodoo dolls of Bush and his cabinet … and some really long needles?

  8. meetsy says:

    Improbus…
but, if you did pin a vodoo doll of Bush and his cabinet, could it be punishable with the Patriots Act, …and/or would you be considered a terrorist.
…And, as for YOU, Tim, please don’t. Believe what YOU want to believe, and stop there. It’s annoying to have every answer, for everything be the same thing.

  9. BHK says:

Maybe we should go back to our Puritan roots. They had the wisdom to put to death anyone convicted of cursing.

  10. woktiny says:

its sad to see such discourse between people who seem not to understand what a curse is, what a priest is, what voodoo is, what hell is, or the nature of God. That’s not to say that the man in question does, either.

  11. Improbus says:

Cripes! Do I have to put EVERYTHING in scarasm tags?

  12. George of the city says:

The problem with curses is if you curse someone you will recieve the same. What goes around come around

  13. woktiny says:

    12. no.

  14. John Wofford says:

    11. WTFI “Scarasm”? Yet another Fruedian slip?
Who’s the chick, and can I meet her?

  15. Neal Saferstein says:

    Scarasm?

    Neal Saferstein
