President Bush’s Best Moment — This one really makes you wonder.

Bush told weekly Bild am Sonntag when asked about his high point since becoming president in January 2001:

“I would say the best moment of all was when I caught a 7.5-pound perch in my lake,” he told the newspaper in an interview published Sunday. Bush said the worst moment was Sept. 11, 2001, when hijacked planes crashed into the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington.

    I’m sure he was kidding.

  2. Peacenik says:

The Iranian president did something that took enormous balls. He, against the wishes of his most dangerous “subjects”, extended an olive branch. Bush, the f**kin’ IDIOT that he is, slapped it down.

All these “conspiracy theories”, about the current administration getting into wars to fuel the economy — I’m beginning to believe them.

We’re in WWIII or WWIVnow. Like the last couple of WWs, we won’t call it that for a few years yet. It’s here. Get used to it. The nuclear, oh sorry GWB, the noocular problems are next.

We had an option to talk with Iran, the first in 27 years, and turned it down. Is that leadership? Is that a desire for peace?

On a related note: that newsclip about the sheik guy that can’t fire his gun… I haven’t heard anybody mention the obvious: that automatic rifle was probably a good 40-50 pounds (18-22 kg, 2.8-3.5 stone). If he doesn’t regularly carry one around, it would be a burden. Belt-fed machine guns often have a gunner and a loader, his loader pulled back the bolt, he didn’t “fumble” with it. Sheesh, more propaganda from ignorant government and media lackeys.

  3. puttanun says:

    well, not funny.

  4. Greg Albright says:

    Joke of the day….

How can you tell if Bush is lying?

    His lips are moving…

The world record for freshwater Perch is 4lbs 12oz

  5. Trevor says:

I think that was a moment of great honesty. After hearing that I’d have to agree, that is his greatest accomplishment as President.

Kudos for your candor Mr. President!

  6. Rob says:

Worst moment was when the planes crashed into the World Trade Center, twice making him briefly lose his place in “My Pet Goat”.

  7. Suzie says:

    I’m not, lol

  8. name says:

    gquaglia.

Are you sure? Cause it sounds just like any of his other Bushisms… I have to say, his “Good ole boy” routine is tiring pretty quickly… Especially for a fella born in the east coast…

  9. tcc3 says:

I’m not so sure. That *is* his finest accomplishment to date.

  10. Andreas says:

I’m with Dvorak on this one. It is just too weird!!

Rob, thank you for disgracing the victims of September 11, 2001. You’re a class act.

  12. rwilliams254 says:

Greg, You’re 1/3 right on the freshwater perch record.

Fish name wt location date who
Perch, Nile 213-8 Lake Nasser, Egypt Dec. 18, 1997 Adrian Brayshaw
Perch, white 4-12 Messalonskee Lake, ME June 4, 1949 Mrs. Earl Small
Perch, yellow 4-3 Bordentown, NJ May, 1865 Dr. C.C. Abbot

The President might have been mistaken it was a Perch. He’s not a fishologist, marine biologist, or what ever the technical name for that specialty is.

  13. Dan says:

He will go down in history as our most Buddah like of Presidents. The sound of one hand clapping…..our President!

  14. RTaylor says:

I wished he fished more often. Put a gone fishing sign on the West Wing and don’t do another thing for 3 years.

  15. gquaglia says:

Since you seem to be a fan of Al Zarqawi, maybe you can go visit him, show him how to use that gun the right way. He will then thank you by cutting off your head on camera and sending it off so that all the media lackeys can see what a douche you really were.

  16. Gary Marks says:

Well, for all you whiners who don’t think your vote counts anymore, you can vote at the MSN site on this question…

Do you agree with President Bush that his catching a 7.5-pound perch is the high point of his presidency so far?

    1) Yes, everything else he’s done pales in comparison.

    2) No, be serious — the man has accomplished great things.

    3) Ummm, I think something got lost in translation.

    4) Yes, but that’s nothing compared to shooting a lawyer in the face.

    5) I don’t know — this administration keeps everything so secret that it’s hard to make comparisons.

Do your civic duty, people! Stand up for the President and tell him how great it was that he caught an unbelievably large perch in his private lake!

  17. Milo says:

He’s workin’ hard tah put food on his famly!

  18. Sounds The Alarm says:

Why do conservatives, and more specifically neocons, get so upset when others use their divisive tactics on their sacred cow of the president?

  19. rus62 says:

I’ve seen German translated into English and sometimes it means something entirely different.

    As to the Perch —
Maybe it was that talking Billy Bass telling the President “I am a perch…put me on your wall”.

  20. Mark says:

A serene morning… waves lap gently against the boat… the cool mist rises from the glass-still waters… the president is at peace with all creation. Suddenly, a mighty perch takes the hook and the battle is met. The pole bends double under the fury of the untamed leviathan. Sinews strain and muscles knot, sweat breaks out on the president’s forehead as the primodial battle for survival occupies every fiber of his being. The match-up is intense, it could go either way, but finally, with heroic effort, the president hauls the unruly beast to the deck and clubs it into submission. No gloating here, just the quiet satisfaction of a hunter having vanquished his prey, of a man exerting his God-given mastery. A sigh of relief is audible from the Secret Service team that had been helpless but to watch; glances and admiring smiles are exchanged between them as they acknowledge once again the master in their midst. The steely resolve and raw determination of our greatest modern leader shines through in the smallest of moments, in all that he does, all that he is.

  22. Gary Marks says:

ROTFLMAO – Gosh, Mark, that’s true talent! I shudder to think what carnal turns your tale might have taken had the fairest of the fair, Lady Bush, been present in the boat…wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more.

P.S. joshua, a bash a day merely lets us know who’s properly sedated and who might be frothing a bit too much 😉

  23. Mike Voice says:

#11 Rob, thank you for disgracing the victims of September 11, 2001. You’re a class act.

    …disgracing the victims…

    Bullsh!t

  24. Mr. H. Fusion says:

Catching a 7 ½ lb perch wasn’t all that hard. When he pulled it out of the water it weighed just over 2 lbs. When the little sucker flipped and flopped around in the boat, Bush instantly thought, Weapons of Mass Destruction !!! Of course, Republican fish don’t flip flop. He ordered a F-16 to make a strike against the little Democratic aquatic vertebrate. Well after the Air Force was done and the Secret Service detail did their thing, it looked like a right fine Republican hunk of fish hamburger with a lead belly. (not the Letbetter Lead Belly with the 12 string guitar, the fish was full of lead in its belly)

So that is how Bush had his proud day of catching a 7 ½ lb. perch. It was so darn satisfyen gitten that darn Democrat too. Made his day, week, month, and term all in one.

And I’m sure your belittling the victims and their families is even more commendable. Bush thought so much of the attacks that he kept on reading. Some President!! Ya, your hero, has a lot of dignity when he came to New York for a photo op just a few days later. Maybe if Bush hadn’t dismissed the reports back in August the attacks might not have even happened.

  26. George says:

Bashing bush keeps us from kicking the dog and yelling at the ol lady and beating the kids. A good thing. Yes

  27. Sounds The Alarm says:

#23 – Please – no naked pictures of Bush’s wife.

  28. Alvaro Fernandez says:

With regard to the cartoon showing Bush fishing for the WMDs – um, when Bill Clinton bombed Iraq using cruise missiles, was it because he thought Iraq _didn’t_ have WMDs? Revisionist history is so convenient – everybody thought Saddam had them; the question was what to do about it – continue the sanctions, or take some sort of action.

I for one think he gave them to Syria, another “fine” Baathist regime. But of course, for some all evil comes from Washington.

I didn’t vote for Bill, but I usually supported his foreign policy, although time has shown he should have paid more attention to Al Qaida and less to “the economy, stupid.” He just wanted to avoid being unpopular at all costs, I guess, so he avoided making some hard decisions.

    Alvaro Fernandez

  29. TJGeezer says:

30 Didn’t pay enough attention? What a dishonest load of crap.
