So IKEA names its computer desk the “Jerker?” Is this specifically for chat room mavens, programmers, the MIT Media Lab or what? Are you kidding me?

  1. Stephen Donner says:

Could it possibly mean something in its native language?

(I truly do not know, just a speculation, but gasp: what a novel concept!)

And if not, of course, yeah, that’s pretty poor word choice.

  2. Emil says:

HAHA Jerker is a swedish name (ugly one though). Kinda funny.

But the the actual name “Gun Hellsvik” are soo much cooler.

  3. Marten says:

As Emil said, it’s a swedish name. But in english it’s priceless 🙂

  4. RTaylor says:

I wish I had a store near me, I need a couple of those desks at that price.

  5. AC says:

What makes it even more hilarious are the care instructions:
Wipe clean using a damp cloth and a mild cleaner.
Wipe dry with a clean cloth.

There you go, the only accessories you need are some tissues and moisterizer.

  6. Mr. Fusion says:

I don’t know and I haven’t researched it, but the sign is in dollars, $. I thought Sweden used the Kroner (sp) which is k

    Anyone ?

  7. blastum says:

I’ve got the Jerker. Solid, good quality, cheap price, the best computer desk I’ve ever had. I think Ikea has a lot of fun with its names, because many are pretty funny.

  8. Andy says:

Yes, it is a Swedish name, and it’s pronounced “Yerker”. Maybe Ikea keeps the name for the US market because it attracts a lot of attention!

  9. Mike Borginis says:

It’s the only IKea furniture that survived my move, the rest was cheap crap that fell apart and went out in the trash

  10. joshua says:

there’s a new, big IKEA store just up the road from me……have to go get a couple of those….they look cool.
