Suburb has $1M homes, bloody skulls
The people of Sunkist Estates weren’t too troubled by the chicken sacrifices on the railroad tracks. It is, after all, South Florida, where Caribbean immigrants routinely practice the ritualistic religions of voodoo and Santeria.
So the folks in the sleepy Miami-Dade County suburb could even stomach the occasional goat skull sighting.
But when they awoke one morning to find a large horse – or maybe it was a cow, no one’s really sure – dismembered and stuffed in plastic bags, well, that’s when the people of Sunkist Estates had to draw the line.
“What you do in your house, that’s your business,” said Larry Salas, who dialed 911 when he saw the large, blood-filled bags across the street from his million-dollar home. “When you start throwing dead horses in front of my house, I have an issue with that.”
voodoo and all aside, wouldnt this be the perfect way to piss off the rich bastards?
seriously though who builds million dollar homes within spitting distance of the ghetto? (granted their value went up but still rail road tracks & ghetto; perfect place to develope a community)

Uhhh…not to nitpick…..but who said the neighborhood was near the ghetto? Who said that all voudou or santeria practitioners are even from “the ghetto”? Go read the original article again. No mention of ghetto there, just 2 major highways and the railroad right of way. The wealthy neighborhood sounds like it might be near a crossroads to me, which would be a great place to both do a ritual and dispose of ritually killed animals in that belief system. Councilmen blame the CSX railroad company for not keeping the area near their tracks secure, which makes a lot of sense to me. It’s their land and they should be concerned about people hanging around in the dark by the tracks where they could be hurt or killed by a passing train. Before you post, read carefully and please don’t assume facts based on your preconceived ideas!
