Chevy created a website where users could create their own commercials for the Tahoe SUV. As if there was any doubt about the outcome, it’s turned into an ad man’s nightmare. The pictures above are from two of the videos.

Thanks to Awake for finding this.
If you make your own, just make sure that you email it to yourself, and then post your URL here!
That is absolutely great! Anybody remember the sloganator during the 2004 campaign?

Although I forgot to add a soundtrack, here’s mine:

That is ABSOLUTELY hilarious! I couldn’t stop watching them, so I just have to make my own. The global warming angle finally got a little thin, so I went a different route. (I’d give you the link but they don’t provide one. Highly recommended!
While not on the scope of “New Coke” … it’s fundamentally the same mistake. The ad agency and the executives who approved this plan live in a totally different world than does the public so they just didn’t see this coming.
I have to give Chevy credit for one thing… they’ve kept the web site up and not deleted the videos.
Figured I’d giver a shot too…

…It’s late
Dave,
I think I just broke that rib again (thank you Mr. Burns) from laughing so hard at your video!
Yup, the ad people forget that there are a lot of nuts out there that don’t have a clue as to what’s important in life.
The saddest thing is that nothing smaller than a Tahoe is worth driving. In a real life you need a useful vehicle. not some piece of crap like a Prius. In my household, our Tahoe is a smaller vehicle.
That being said, I can give credit where it’s due – there’s some good humor there.
Hey, how’s this sound? Use corn to produce ethanol to power the cars which in turn would have the effect of reducing the available supply of high fructose corn syrup in the food supply. We reduce our reliance on imported oil while reducing the national waistline, too! Flawless!
Aw crap. I responed to the wrong post. Sorry. Though I suppose it kind of fits here, too.
These are pretty funny – but man, are some of those eco-nazi-crazy people nuts!
One that I didn’t like at all – the 3237 (or whatever) one. Equating the war on terror to a crusade to drive an SUV is just plain reckless…
Mr Me, form follows function. Your needs may demand a large vehicle, but many of us can get by with smaller, cheaper and more fuel efficient vehicles. City expressways are gridlocked with thousands of fuel guzzling SUV’s, most of them carrying a single person, the driver. Equating the size of your vehicle with self worth takes us down a very strange and exotic path.
There’s be fewer SUVs out there if they LOWERED the car CAFE requirements. It would also raise the overall mileage, as the low mileage SUVs disappear. The only reason these SUVs showed up is because CAFE killed off the large sedans and station wagons(and thousands of drivers too).
The dance with the devil one is hilarious 🙂
