The Study suggests mobile phone-brain tumour link — This debate will never end until a real study is done!
What is very weird is that a solution to this is seen as using a Bluetooth device instead of holding the phone to your head. Hey, Bluetooth is a radio too!!! Cripes!
The results of a study, conducted at the Swedish National Institute for Working Life, raise renewed fears that a prolonged use of mobile phones may increase the risk of brain tumours.
Duh.. put a microwave emitter next to your skull for several hours a day and expect it to do no damage. Duh!
Next thing we are going to be told by ‘leading scientists’ is that cigarette smoke is harmless.
Of course. Bluetooth is not quite living up to expectations…
i.e. people are NOT buying all those devices, printers, video links, keyboards, etc… Just earpieces. And thats only because of driving regulations. So, Bluetooth has to have a “good” and “healthy” conotation.
đ
But seriously, you can´t compare the power a bluetooth device uses compared to a mobile phone. BT has a 10 to 20 meters range, a mobile is in the 2 to 3 Kilometer range. mW compared to 2 to 5 Watts.
I, on the other hand, heard serious physicists claim that the wavelength is too long to cause any damage. GSM works on the 900 MHz range in most of the world (in the US it’s also 850MHz and 1900MHz) while microwave is around the 2.4GHz range – just like WiFi and Bluetooth…
But let’s compare: microwave ovens are ~800 Watts, cell phones are ~3 Watts, Bluetooth ear pieces are ~2.5mW. I’m not losing any sleep over it.
If you use a Bluetooth earpiece while driving on the freeway, the exhaust fumes you inhale during the conversation will do more damage than the radiation.
The questions is if RF radiation exposure is cumulative like x-rays. I’ve unfortunately have had several explanations about radiation effects from Radiological Oncologists in the past several years. Fact is we have no idea what 20+ years of exposure of 3W’s of RF energy will do, and no way to model it with reasonable accuracy.
In addition to frequency and power there’s the question of proximity. The inverse square rule means that the signal close to you has a lot more effective power than one further away.
If you could see all the radio waves out there you’d spend your life in a lead lined house!
Just wondering – why does no one mention cordless phones in these studies? They run at 2.4 GHz or 900 MHz, and if you spend a lot of time on them, what then? Their wattage is probably somewhere between a Bluetooth headset and a cell phone …
It’s like someone getting scared of standing in front of the DISH reciever on your house, like you could get zapped. The wave of information is beaming down all around you.
If there was a thin strand of string for every radio wave you wouldn’t be able to see your hand in front of your face.
Awake, cigarette smoke is harmless if you don’t inhale.
Cell phones are evil….period.
My friends say I have an obsessive hatred of cell phones that sometimes crosses the line of *manical*…..lol
I’m at the point that I don’t care if they fry the brains of the millions of people that can’t put them down. I figure in 20 or 25 years the only non-zombies in the world will be those who didn’t have a cell phone.
I honestly don’t own one. And I don’t want to own one. My Mother will make me put her phone in my pack when I go hiking in the mountains of the Arizona/Mexico desert, so they at least can find my body. I do it to please her, after all, she’s the one with the great lasagna recipie.
i wonder WHY I loved my OLD Bag phone…Handset and Main unit, were FAR apart.
My sis was an early adapter of cell phones and last year had a head tumor removed they need a real study on these things.
What if cell phone companies built cell towers that cover only 1000 square feet. The power would be very low.
WOULD YOU STICK YOUR HEAD
IN A MICROWAVE OVEN?
EXPERT DISCUSSES CONTROVERSY
OVER CELL PHONE SAFETY.
Today there are an estimated 1.5 billion cell phones in the world. In Europe 80% of the population uses them, compared to 50% in the US. The US. market is growing quickly especially among teens and children who are at the greatest risk. . All this points to one fact: cell phones are BIG business. Even though the health risks from radiation are being reported and the evidence is mounting, the industry giants continue to claim their products are safe.
Shelly Kalnitsky, an authority on cell phone issues wants to ask your listeners three questions.
1. Do you now believe nicotine is non-addictive?
2. Do you now believe that cigarette smoking does not cause lung cancer?
3. Do the words âradiationâ and âmicrowavesâ sound like something you want going into your brain?
âThe jury is still out on the extent of the long term effects of cell phonesâ says Kalnitsky âbut we are discovering more evidence of cell phone dangers.â He points to an independent reporting site cprnewsbureau.org which documents hundreds of articles , studies and research on cell phone dangers under world news.
He discusses :
⢠How the industry suppresses negative stories.
⢠The increased risks cell phones pose to teens and children.
⢠Why current hands free kits are more dangerous.
⢠New products that can reduce the risk.
⢠Safety tips in cell phone usage.
Kalnitsky is an expert on the subject and can add insight on recent scientific findings as well as discuss protection devices such as shields, new hands free radiation free kits and safety tips that can offer a remedy for cell phone users.
