Would we do it? Should we do it? Is Iran really that much of a threat?

Click on the image above to see how it could be done, then read about how the Brit’s are talking about US plans to do it.

The [British] Government is to hold secret talks with defence chiefs tomorrow to discuss possible military strikes against Iran.

A high-level meeting will take place in the Ministry of Defence at which senior defence chiefs and government officials will consider the consequences of an attack on Iran.

It is believed that an American-led attack, designed to destroy Iran’s ability to develop a nuclear bomb, is “inevitable” if Teheran’s leaders fail to comply with United Nations demands to freeze their uranium enrichment programme.

  1. AB CD says:

Paul, it’s the total amount consumed. A 15% reduction in supply could send costs much higher if demand doesn’t drop. And it’s the total supply reduction taht matters, not how much the US uses. Dilbert had a great comic strip about it.

  2. Me says:

    Yawn…..

Nukes are boring. They never set them off any more. And they’re not getting bigger like hard disks. Hell, the biggest one ever detonated was only 57 Megatons. If we haven’t even cracked 100 Megatons we’ll never get to the Gigaton range.

  3. taqi says:

us can never dare to attack,as it uses its rthreatning policy to stop a nation 4m development,
if us made mistke to attck iran ,then a disaster will occur,as result at least ISREAL will vanish 4m map of world.
may god give more ditermination to iran to stop us from the more oppression of poor nation,
also i pray 4 destruction of US

  4. Mike says:

    David,
Conservatives were making the same wild conspiracy claims about Bill Clinton. Time to climb out of your cave and join the rest of us.

  5. ECA says:

I do have to mention something LESS positive.
It wouldn’t take NUKES to hurt this country.

There are other options that could devistate this country VERY easy, and require LESS training, and even LESS suicide. and could kill more persons in 1 month then 9/11 ever did.

for a FREE country we edit ALOT of Bin Ladins tapes, from 1/2 hour to 10 seconds clips.

  6. Me says:

ECA, of course there are other things. If you really want to get depressed just read all the comments here:

  7. Martin says:

    david-
They may think I am nutty for not doing anything, but your statement about Bush taking a 3rd term is way out there.

Got a proposition for you – put your money where your mouth is. Lets go put 50,000 in escrow each, and if George W Bush is in office in April 2009, you take it– anyone else in office I will take it.

I do gotta go with April, because with all the friggin recounts going to happen it is going to take about 60 more days than normal– but there won’t be any 3rd term. Jeez!

BTW- others- I am not happy about letting some MidEast city/country go up in smoke with some theoretical Iranian bomb. But the US does not have the credibility right now and the president does not have the support to go on another wild goose chase for weapons. Neither republicans or democrats really believe anything they are saying right now — they just blather on about one another arguing. If we cannot stick together on Iran and Afghanistan, we can’t do that for Iran which will be a lot more troublesome after that battle begins than the two we are in now.

I do seriously question the intelligence saying that Iran is anywhere near close. And North Korea, same deal. It is all exactly the same people saying this as was saying the WMD thing about Iraq.

Everyone on the left and many on the right and most of the world has claims Bush is some tyrant for the preemptive attack policy– and now these same people are talking about the need to do something about Iran? WTF? For once, the US should stay out of it and let Europe and the UN handle it– we will have to clean the shit up again, as we always do– but if the US is so wrong every time, lets just sit this one out and let others do it.

  8. ECA says:

Lets do it the easy way…

go into there country and Use Gieger counters and SEE how many people have been poisoned ALREADY…

It took YEARS before the US, figured out HOW to handle the stuff. And this country is 1/10th the size..

then pass around the info, that in 20 years they will ALL glow in the dark, and suffer MAJOR medical problems…THAT unless their GOV is willing to pay for it, they should get them to STOP IT.

  9. Mike Novick says:

Greg, if you hate the preemption doctrine, then why do anything about Iran?

  10. Mike Novick says:

If generators will still be working, won’t they have generators at their nuke plants?

  11. david says:

Martin, I’m not a gambler. I’m a psychic. And you already owe me $50,000 for what I’ve predicted.

  12. martin says:

I stick by my earlier comment about your statement being way out there. And if you were a psychic, you wouldn’t need any money would you, because you would already be a powerball winner. (at least I would be if I could tell the future) 😉

  13. Me says:

ECA, you know you’er right. We should give them more plutonium. I’d say we powder up a bunch, put it in baggies and air drop them all over Tehran and Iranian gov’t buildings elsewhere.

  14. hadi says:

    only iran

  15. kevin says:

United We Stand Divided We Fall

I think this statement reflects the problem with the United States today. In todays society there is too much division and gray matter. I think it is time to pull up our pants and act like the great nation we once were. We must realize that this great nation is under attack , there are countries such as Iran, Syria, Argentina whose main goal is to kill Americans and bring the United States to its knees. There is no doubt in my mind that a nuclear bomb will eventually fall in the wrong hands and be used against either Israel or the U.S.

I hope our politians can take time from counting all the money in their back pockets(Republicans and Democrats) and do the number one job, they were elected for :

    To Protect
    To Defend
    To Unite

    Otherwise Divided We Fall

  16. Chuck Ellevan says:

Yes we would do it. Yes we should do it. We owe Iran a alot. GIVE WAR A CHANCE!!!

  17. arsalan says:

i just ant to say that this is mad to atack iran
and i now it is impossible america atack to iran in this condition
if usa try to atack iran it’s simply that they master’s know that iran is’nt iraq
and they dont want a too long war because this not their aim of this cold war in the world
any one can understand that his is a poletic yhat every country in world use to have more power and this is not important yhat whose the winner and whose the loser
simply people are loser and the goverments of the country’s and multi billioner’s are the winner

  18. zekizki says:

if we compare between iran and usa, usa is dropping nuclear bomb on japan in 1945,normally usa dont have righ to talk about bomb, france also has testing nuclear weapons in sahara’s algĂ©ria in1961, only china, garmany and others countries can talk with iran on its nuclear program. russia dot used a nuclear weapon instead of its defeat in afganistanwar.
