70’s version of the virtual teacher
‘Virtual’ teachers could enter classroom
Scientists have developed technology to “teleport” holographs of teachers into the classroom.
Equipment which can beam the interactive image of a teacher into schools, where it can hold conversations and make eye contact with pupils, is to go on display at the BETT education technology exhibition next month.
Its creators at the Digital World Centre in Manchester believe it could be used to educate children living in remote areas, or to teach specialist lessons in minority subjets, which would otherwise be uneconomic.
Duffy White, director of technology at the centre, said the technology used for the holograph was like the glass teleprompts used by politicians to deliver speeches.
I hope this is a joke, cause I know our education system is short on teachers, but this is outrageous!
It’s all for education until someone figure out how to make a virtual stripper–then it’s quality entertainment.
Wow, is that John Travolta there in the bottom left corner? A virtual teacher, what will they think of next. Fair enough school systems are in need of more teachers, but can u really put the futures of all those kids in the hands of a computer? Interesting concept.
Like that library guy off the Time Machine movie …
I saw Gabe on one of those poker shows last night, he won 267,000.00 bucks. More than he ever made as an actor.
Since a lot of kids don’t play nice with a real teacher in the room, what makes them think there won’t be murder and mayham with this concept.
Of course, if this comes to pass, the first schools to get them will be the gang infested, inner city schools, where teachers are already an endangered species.
