This ad is actually an optical illusion. There’s supposed to be an Xbox hidden somewhere in it. Can you find it?!
A new survey from the Association of National Advertisers (ANA) and Forrester Research found that 78% of advertisers feel that over the last two years television advertising has lost effectiveness, and — as a direct result — marketers are exploring emerging technologies to help bolster their television advertising spend.
The world of advertising will never be the same.
The ANA predicts that 80% of advertisers will spend more of their advertising budget on Web advertising and 68% of advertisers will look to search engine marketing.
This trend means there will be even more of a market for effective ad blockers. I never understood why advertisers ever thought their obnoxious Web ads would ever increase sales.
The graphic is a prime example of focusing on the product you’re trying to sell in the ad. Most visitors at this site wouldn’t be able to remember if it was a game console or a Fiat nestled so nicely in that spot. I know I’ve scrolled up about ten time while typing this post.
Why spend MORe money on ADVERTS, that raise the cost of goods, as you and I end up paying for it…
START making better products…And we will FLOCK to there doors.
90% of the TV adverts i see…DONt show the product, or compare it, or even TELL me what Im buying…
Blah, blah, blah, show sex, show violance, show produst, BUY IT, DONE..
Bravo! My wife walked in on me while I was reading this post.
More advertising on the internet?
I haven’t seen an online advertisement since 1999. I’m not just referring to ad-blockers. Most internet veterans have mentally blocked ads for years.
And if you pop up or pop under I blacklist you for life!
I only blacklist interstitials because everything else is caught by my filters.
It show me that the smart people are going where the audience is. I think captive audiences such as movie theaters, DVDs, product placement and the like will get more attention.
Commercial and cable TV all seem to be on the same schedule. Next time the program you are watching has a commercial, flip to other channels and see how many of them are also airing commercials. You can only go to the bathroom so many times in one evening.
What was that picture selling again?
TRUE,
but as things ADVANCE…
MS will place another backdoor/tool/SLOT that can be paid for, and get the option to do ANYTHING to advert to you again..
Only costs $99 for the option now.
And MS placed about 1/2 the holes in IE in the first place, so they could sell the option to ADVERT to you. I dont need to ADD, that BEFORE IE, internet…Browsing was anonomous..AND NOW, with IE, all they need is ASK who and where you are…
Agh, I cant find the darn xbox.
I have been looking closely at that photo for the last 15 minutes. I even copied it iand interpolated it with the best software that I have to make photos big and clear on my 30″ monitor… I’m still looking for the XBox… where’s Waldo?
Advertisers are using terrorist methods just like our president. They force commercials on us as CAPTURED audiences. For instance in the movie theatre before you can see main feature, on the net when you want to watch a video clip or read an article but the only way to get there is by watching an ad first, etc. Personally, I’ve fought back by not consuming products anymore. I only spend money on food and some lite entertainment. I have no CD’s, DVD’s, PC, furniture, electronics, knick knacks or consumables at home. No phone line, no coffee table–hell, no visitors either. No debt. No one has anything on me. I can walk away from my dwellings and I won’t miss anything. Hell– I can walk away from my own life with no problems when my time comes. This is total freedom. Happiness has nothing to do with it. Peace is all that matters. Happiness is a side effect.
