Here’s some goofball in Germany with the new Origami.

The real question here as to this things success is, is MS willing to take a licking on this thing and throw money at it untill it works al la Xbox or is this just one of those little flings they have periodically? MS as far as I know hasn’t made any money worth talking about on XB. If you’re MS you’ve got plenty of money to throw. Also how about this thing as some sort of I’ve-got-way-too-much-money XB controller? Sure it won’t make money but as I said what if MS simply doesn’t care if it does?

My handwriting is so bad doctors get jealous. Any chance Micro$oft has improved the Tabled OS handwriting recognition to the point I could use it?

    Nice Tie.

  4. Gregory says:

“Something like this would be cool if it was cheap, about 300 bucks. Had about 80 gigs of hard drive space. Played Divx movies. Had TV/audio out. A laptop/DVD drive. The ability to plug it in a computer via USB and treat the drive as a portable hard drive, in addition to networking, of course.”

Well.. aside from the price and the DVD drive… it has everything else.
It’s a good product idea, but it’s too expensive right now. When costs come down too the planned $500-600 range then you’ll see the market like it. There is too much FUD about it right now though.

I’m confused….Which one in the photo is John and which one is Origami?

  6. Roc Rizzo says:

Funny, it doesn’t look like origami to me… And believe you me, I know origami. I fold Christmas Tree ornaments and sell them during the Holidays. Somehow, I couldn’t see this hanging from the ole’ yule tree!

Soo… How do you press Ctr+Alt+Del if it freezes? 😉

  8. Microsoft has been planning this device for several years now.
Not many people understood the concept of a mouse in the early days. Especially xerox sparcs. Touch screen makes allot of sence.
I’m not 100% keen on the design I would have like to see the units in colored cases similar to apples products.

  9. Richard L says:

I have been waiting for a system like that for a while. I have been looking at Motion’s LS800 but found it too expensive. It the price range is as mention I’ll probably get one. This might be the device that would push the Ebooks thing on the map.

One thing you have to tell me, if you can put VGA screen in a 3.7″ screen (like in some of the Pocket PC), why can a we have a 7″ WXGA. It is about the same pixel density of ~210 pixel per inch. If you tell me things will be too small, aren’t fonts sizable? The point of having a 7″ WXGA would be to never notice the pixels even when reading text, with proper anti-aliasing.

    Can you say “newton”?
