Netimperative – IPTV remains a mystery to half of consumers- report — Nobody understands IPTV anywhere.

It revealed that 46% do not understand the term IPTV – where broadcast-quality digital television is delivered over an Internet-enabled telephone network.

However the survey reveals that the market for the services IPTV can provide is substantial in each country.

    Just ask if you download movies and or TV shows via torrents. THEN you’ll get a much more accurate gauge on how broadband consumers get their entertainment.

    Consumers are still trying to figure out how to buy an HDTV set.

    It’s just like people talking about VOIP. Most people don’t know what the hell that is. I saw a small local cable company get it right on their billboards… just calling it “phone service.” The wire doesn’t matter.

    Until there is an easy to use method for IPTV, the majority will stay ignorant.

    As for VOIP, I don’t think its apples to apples. Cell phone technology is fairly complicated, but most understand it because the majority has embraced the technology. I’d rather have my cell phone than VOIP, and have no need for both.
