Guerrero said it is not known for sure if the gun belongs to Grady. She said there is now a bullet hole in the south wall of his office about three feet off the floor.
“Most definitely it was a scary situation,” she said, adding no one was in the vicinity when the firearm was discharged.
There is a federal statute prohibiting taking guns near or on to school property. The Odessa Police Department and ECISD Police will work on the investigation and the FBI has been notified as well, she said.
The FBI?
Yeah, why the FBI? Did the bullet go out of the wall and cross the state line or something? Why not contact the Dept. of Homeland Security also…and the ATF for good measure?
Odessa? Odessa! Have you ever been in Odessa — and why?
When I still was on the road, I used to overnight there every two weeks. 1 night. Then, my best account asked me to stay over for a Friday high school football game. Which — in Texas — is bigger than the NFL in the Mid-West! The Mighty Mojos were playing their arch-rivals from Mudville [Midland].
Just after twilight, the teams took to the field. They cranked up full power to the field lights and clouds of insects, as expected, clustered around the lights. But, no birds showed up to dash through the insects gobbling up an evening snack.
I turned to my buddy and asked, “where’s the birds?” He replied, “they’re all dead. It’s from the oil refineries.”
“Around here, we call it the smell of money.”
The gun free school zone act was declared unconstitutional in U.S. v. Lopez because congress exceeded their authority by too broadly interpreting the interstate commerce clause. Did the federales pass another one? I wonder what federal statute they are talking about. It says the Federal Bureau of Intimidation was being notified. You can notify them of anything I guess.
I do think any kids wanting to pull off a Columbine like spree would think twice about trying it in Texas.Texas where Men are Men and sheep are scared very scared.Remember the last Texan who was President left us with Veitnam and now we have Iraq. Both were for and about oil.Check what the Chinese are doing with the Germans in the China sea.
There are very few .44 caliber automatics it was either a .40 or .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol.
FBI involvement is ludicrous. There is no violation of federal law but the statement is a testament to the competents of Alma Guerrero, ECISD’s assistant superintendent. Under the Texas Penal Code, unlawful carrying a weapon is a misdemeanor A, punishable by up to a year in prison and up to a $4,000 fine. In the same chapter, carrying a prohibited weapon on the campus of an educational institution is a third-degree felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
Crockett is a very dangerous school, drugs and gangs are a major problem on the campus. Every junior high and high school campus in Ector County has an armed police officer. I don’t blame the man for having a firearm. The district attempts to keep everything quiet because the higher the enrollment, the more money they receive from the state.
Brilliant. Why not shoot a rocket into the “empty” pool as well. He’s the Principal of the school! Give him respect, this is Texas, or you will soon know what’s cooking.
Darn, I sure would hate to be a sheep in Texas. Lawyers aren’t too well protected either.
The way Bush has been F***ing us we are all sheep.
Maybe the kids will behave now.
*yawn* *golf clap*
Carrying guns in Texas. Why is this news?
