Can you imagine? Images everywhere.

EETimes.com – Startup sees bright future for in-phone projector — This may actually be a little ridiculous.

LONDON — Light Blue Optics Ltd., has developed a matchbox-sized video and image projector, suitable for use with a mobile phone or iPod. With further miniaturization the technology could be included within a mobile phone, or within other portable equipment, as an alternative display system, the company said.

The PVPro occupies 62 cubic centimeters and can be used to display images from a range of mobile devices, including laptop computers, personal media players such as the video iPod, digital cameras and mobile phones.

  1. John Schumann says:

As you know, a big part of the power consumption, weight, and price of notebook computers is the display. The folks at MIT media lab were talking about using a projected display at one point. I guess this technology didn’t gel soon enough for their device.

  2. Don says:

So it’s conceivable that not only would I have to listen to some bozo’s conversation in a restaurant, but I might also have to see their home movies projected on a wall?

  3. Richard Brill says:

Now thats cool projecting pornographic images and advertisments in public.
Do you really think it will used to show baby pictures..LOL
    Thank you Paris Hilton.
    Thank you Light Blue Optics.

  4. KB says:

And remember, whatever you do, when signs implore you to “ask me about my grandchildren,” it’s even more important now that you do not.

  5. Craig says:

Richard’s comment is closer to the truth of what this will be, and reminds me of a story about the great comedian Red Skelton, as told in Jamie Farr’s autobiography (yeah, I read it … don’t ask). Seems that when Red used to travel, he’d sometimes bring with him a portable movie projector and a porno film. He’d set it up in the hotel room and project out the window onto a wall across the street, laughing hysterically at the reactions of the people walking by.

Ahhhh, those were the days. Gentler, more innocent times …
