CBC News: Microsoft to challenge RIM’s BlackBerry with new e-mail service — On top of the lawsuit, it appears as if RIM has to do a little work now.
Microsoft and some of the world’s biggest cellphone service providers are launching a new generation of mobile e-mail phones in hopes of capturing business from Waterloo-based Research in Motion and its market-leading BlackBerry device.
Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange and Cingular said they will incorporate Microsoft’s Windows Mobile operating system in some of their new phones. The Mobile system “pushes” e-mails directly from servers with no need for a separate mobile server and no additional licensing fees.
if it runs anything like MS wifi service it will be intermetten or say your connected but not let you recieve anything.
I never liked or used the Rimm service.
Microsoft will new service will be much more realistic and user friendly.
I have found the RIM service quite satisfactory and the Blackberry handhelds, although basic in features, very user friendly and reliable. I worry that Microsoft’s lack of ‘style’ may well compromise the end products.
