You just can’t make up crap like this.

Law student files complaint against ‘Vagina’

This year’s production of “The Vagina Monologues” is set to hit the stage in less than two weeks, and the controversy over the show’s “all-color” cast refuses to die.

Law student Pierce Beckham filed a complaint last month with the Central Student Judiciary – which handles complaints between student groups – claiming the production’s casting policy violated the University’s nondiscrimination policy and the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

“Whereas my identity as a male might exclude me for certain reasons from The Vagina Monologues, (the organizers’) decision to exclude certain people was impermissible, given the University’s policies,” Beckham said.

The production dodged the controversy [minority only cast] last month by casting women who are white, but “identify” with other colors. For example, one cast member identifies herself as “pink.”

“At auditions, we experienced white women identifying themselves as ‘women of color,’ ” co-director Molly Raynor told The Michigan Daily last month. “Instead, some are white women who identify themselves with various colors.”

I think I’m feeling orange today with just a hint of burnt sienna.

These are the same people who tell us it is wrong to use the word retard, because it is offensive. Sad thing is I think they just got tired of hearing it every time they spoke. By the way, I’m feeling somewhat umber.

We guys could come up with something called, say, the “Penis Polemics”… one would talk about whatever pops up. On second thought, forget I said that . (it might get a rise out of somebody).

Legal interference with simple artistic merit falls strictly within the purview of genetic twit. If the play sucks it will cease being produced or attended.

When I had a prophetic dream about this last week, I suffered intense fuscia shock.

We’re all pink on the inside

  6. AB CD says:

They should shut it down over the actual content of the play. I don’t know if they are still using it, but the original version has a 24 yr old seducing/raping a 12 yr old and the child says it was good. Apparently colleges don’t mind if it’s a woman who commits statutory rape on a girl.

  7. moss says:

Aside from having no sense of humor, AB CD, do you ever get facts correct? The person seduced in the play is sixteen — which is the age of consent in many states. Except Texas, which probably still uses fourteen.

That would make us all the color of —- SATAN!

  8. AB CD says:

You’re right; I got it wrong. It’s a 13 year old, and she says if it was rape it was a good rape. Like I said not all performances use all parts, and I think the latest versions have changed the age to make it more palatable.

  9. Pat says:

This sounds like what one of those dastardly Republicans would do. Not a chance they could shut it down legally.

My personal favorite is a light blue. Or is that Blue Light?

  10. Marz says:

Age of consent varies among states. In 27 states it is 16, but the rest is at least 17 (a few are 18). BTW, In Texas it’s 17. Go here:

Sounds pretty typical coming out of the University of Michigan.
