A prototype system designed to help consumers, farmers and other interested parties trace the geographic origin of food at all stages of production from ‘farm to fork’ – storage, processing and distribution – has been developed by researchers.
In the wake of successive outbreaks of food-borne disease in the past decade (think mad cow disease, E.coli, salmonella, etc) and the current fear over the possible spread of avian flu, public demand for tighter safeguards on the entire food production chain has never been greater.
“Americans in particular prefer to certify the quality of a product according to its brand and attach no real importance to its origin. European consumers, by contrast, want to know where the food that they eat has come from.”
“The main benefit is that geotraceability is fully objective and certifies the declaration of origin made by the farmer or producer. Today more than 80 per cent of existing data can be geolocalised and thus visualised on the Internet using geoportals such as Google Earth,” …says Michel Debord [project coordinator].

The geographic origin of food doesn’t really matter when MOST of the food comes from SUFFERING. Animals who live miserable, unnatural lives to feed the masses. Man has imprisoned man. Man has imprisoned animals. And now, man is imprisoning Earth by poisining Her. They say you are what you eat. You are EATING SUFFERING. No wonder many human lives are miserable. Put your pet dog or cat inside a cage so small that he can’t even turn around. Let his defecation pile up and let him sleep in it– standing up because there is no room to lie down. Force feed him corn for the rest of his life. Cut off his balls, clip off his claws, sharpen down his canines. You see, capitalism’s priority is PROFITS. At all costs until complaints hurt the bottem line. Americans have not yet complained enough to set animals free. ANIMALS LIVE IN BONDAGE. YOU LIVE IN YOUR BONDAGE OF THE MIND.
FREE YOURSELF.
You’ll convince more people if you tone down your writing. As it is, you lose creditiblity for sounding too fanatical.
David, my Catholic upbringing implanted FAR more GUILT than your rant about SUFFERING ever could. Plus, since I believe Jeebus SUFFERED so that I don’t have to, I don’t really care about any SUFFERING that I may be EATING or ENDURING…. I just pass it on down the line.

What meds are you on?
Last night I told my wife I wanted to free her. I tried undoing her bra while yelling “you’re free, you’re free”. She hit me.
When I blew in her ear to see if there was a through passage, she hit me again. Now I sleep with one eye open; the eye not swollen shut.
I remember time was people were happy just to get something to fill their bellies and keep the wolves at bay for another few days; now we got to be all prissy about it. True sign of decadance.
