genex’s In-N-Out Burger Secret Menu This information began floating around recently and I’ve been going to this chain since it first opened one in Las Vegas a decade or more ago. They have recently been expanding and have a very simple menu. Now this. I’m convinced that this is a viral marketing campaign as a way to expand the menu without actually expanding it. Most chains have a “secret menu” of some sort, but nothing with all these elaborate code names. It’s genius.

This is probably of little interest to anyone not living in California or Nevada. Unless you are a marketing junkie, that is.

In response to your question, we have several commonly requested burger styles, such as Animal style which do not appear on our menu. A you may know, our Animal style burgers come with lettuce, tomato, extra spread, pickles, grilled onions, and mustard fried into the patty. We also offer Protein style burgers, for which we wrap the burger in large leaves of lettuce instead of placing it on a bun.

In addition, we have commonly requested burgers that are not on our menu.

Nice Otto, but I wish it had a little more cheese. 🙂

  5. Steve, why do you have to debase this important discussion by posting an image like that? It’s embarrassing to me and this site.

I’m pretty sure that IN-N-Out Started in the LA area, though they have since expanded to AZ, NV and Northern California. Best burger I’ve ever had! Oh, and they’ve been doing this “secret menu” for years. Not mentioned are the extra patties you can order. i.e. a 4×4 has four patties. I’ve seen a 6×6 before!

  7. site admin says:

Yes, I know it began in LA although the first time I had one was in Vegas. As for the secret: it’s out.

The “Protein Style” was featured prominently on the news when the Atkins fad was big…. other chains like BK would just throw your burger in the waxed paper by itself if you ordered without a bun, but In’n’Out, home of the fresh, non-shredded lettuce, gave you the burger in a lettuce wrap.

Made me hungry. Made me wish In’n’Out was around here (not because I’m some Atkins freak, but because…. mmmmm, fresh lettuce.) I wonder why Wendy’s doesn’t do that too.

The Grilled Cheese style is new to me. If they actually grilled the bun I’d totally want to try it. Next time I’m on the left coast maybe I’ll try to get them to do that.

  9. Drew says:

The best burgers I’ve ever had. And Bible verses too yay!!! 🙂

  10. Mike Randall says:

    Go for the Flying Dutchman:

    Two Pieces of Meat
    Two Pieces of Cheese
    (And that’s it)

All served on top of a burger wrapper

  11. site admin says:

Yuk..that 100×100 burger actually LOOKS like a clogged colon!

  12. Ted Hosmann says:

On a couple occasions I have actually eaten an entire 8×8. The workers would gather around to see the burger for themselves.

Now I go for just the single cheese burger – with fries animal style – that;s the best meal ever!

  13. T.C. Moore says:

The “secret menu” has been around for decades. At least since I was a kid. The printed menu hasn’t changed since 1948.

Even though its not a secret anymore, most people don’t know about it. The first time you go to In ‘n’ Out, you have to be chaperoned by someone who knows what they are doing. An Animal style burger tastes distinctly different from the regular fare.

Meanwhile, I finally tried Animal style Fries about a month ago.
    Kinda grossed me out.

  14. Zuke says:

Love In-n-out when I got the hankerin for a burger!

The question I ask myself everytime I go is: WHY DON’T THEY MAKE ONION RINGS?!?! Their fresh fries are fantastic, the difference between frozen McD’s is amazing. Can you imagine how good they’d make onion rings?!?! Ohhhhhh momma………………….
