One false move and I crush him!
According to Marketwatch the deal is done: — The irony here is that Steve Jobs is now the largest Disney shareholder. This should be very amusing to watch.
Disney to buy Pixar in $7.4 billion deal (DIS, PIXR) By Russ Britt
LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) – Walt Disney Co. (DIS) said Tuesday it will buy computer animation specialist Pixar (PIXR) in an all-stock deal worth $6.3 billion in stock and $1.1 billion of Pixar’s cash. Disney will oversee operation of the Emeryville, Calif.-based company, which has produced such feature hits as “Toy Story,” “Finding Nemo” and “The Incredibles.” As part of the deal, Pixar Chief Executive Steve Jobs will join Disney’s board and become the Burbank, Calif.-based entertainment giant’s largest shareholder. Shares of Disney gained 47 cents, or 1.8%, to $25.99 at the close Tuesday. Pixar, however, lost 70 cents, or 1.2%, to $57.57.
Let it be said, Donald Duck loosing his temper and pitching a fit was always worth a good laugh. You see Donald had an over-inflated ego and was a short tempered, opinionated, pompous ass. Wonder why I thought of that now?
This is the same man convinced Apple to buy his little tiny company, and then replaced Apple’s product line with his own innovations.
If I were Jobs I’d liquidate all Pixar assets before Disney destroys the company.
One day Mummy I will own Disney – you’ll see.
Curious to see if Jobs is having an each way bet. Also will be curious to see how many Disney titles will now pop up on iTunes.
It’s all about access to the render farms….
Consolidation is bleh!
Good for Disney. Definately good for Steve Jobs. Not sure if it’s good for Pixar in the longer term.
Hopefully Lasseter and company can reinvigorate Disney’s animation efforts.
I bet Eisner is just loving this! 🙂
By giving Apple over to Windows, yet retaining the iPod intellectual property cash pipeline – Jobs has done an end run on his “buddies” (gates and ellison) and may eclipse them both.
Can you see Disney cornering the sale of digital media – both audio and video – you bet. How about the whole Disney / ABC library being available for video iPod download?
Steve Jobs just became 3 times richer than Donald Trump overnight.
Let the battle of BORG empires begin. It’s Mickeysoft (ironic) vs. the Disney Apple. It’s “you can have any OS as long as it’s windows” vs. “we want you to pay for every viewing.” In the end, it’s the audience (customers) that will lose. Resistence is futile.
The test will be if Pixar can keep its pool of talent. Several new animation studios, FOX, and Sony, will be looking for talent.
