Oddly, they seem to do a better job of staying on
their side of the bed than people.
Zookeepers at Tokyo’s Mutsugoro Okoku zoo presented the hamster — whose name [Gohan] is a tasty rice dish in Japanese — to Aochan as a snack in October, after the snake refused to eat frozen mice.
But instead of indulging, Aochan decided to make friends with the furry rodent, according to keeper Kazuya Yamamoto. The pair have shared a cage since.
Didn’t Barbra Streisand sing something about this?
Rat snakes…
Rat snakes who need hamsters…
Are the luckiest rat snakes in the world.
I’m all choked up.
Aw, that’s so cute!
So what IS the snake eating? Sushi?
Gohan == “meal” or “dinner” or “supper” in this case rather than plain old “white rice”. It would have been funnier if they had translated correctly.
Oh. And Aochan == Aoi (“green” or “blue”) + chan (kind of a kiddie version of “san” (Mr./Mrs.)). You know. ‘Cause snakes are green. Clever.
One day the snake is going to eat his “friend”.
I so want that to happen. Is that wrong?
i like to read this blog because it is usually very clean and apprpriate, but talking about barbara streisand has made me consider not reading it anymore…
whose name [Gohan]
… Gohan? Like SonGohan? Dragonball Z/GT anyone?
… and the lion will sleep with the lamb…
or something to that effect… You think about it…
There once was a lady from Niger,
Who went for a ride on a tiger.
They came back from the ride
With the lady inside,
And a smile on the face of the tiger.
RTaylor, why didn’t I think of using that?
T.C. — yes, you are hopeless. 🙂
