A couple who planted a severed finger in a bowl of Wendy’s chili in a scheme to extort money from the fast-food chain were sentenced Wednesday to prison terms of at least nine years.

Anna Ayala, 40, who said she bit into the digit, was sentenced to nine years. Her husband, Jaime Plascencia, 44, who obtained the finger from a co-worker who lost it in a workplace accident, was sentenced to more than 12 years.

Bravo!

Why did the woman get the lighter sentence (at least nine years)? Her husband got more than 12.

  2. Mike Voice says:

    Off topic:

But damn, is that the “Flying, Fickle Finger of Fate” award?? 🙂

  3. Pat says:

    rus,

I was wondering the same thing. Although the husband obtained the finger, it was the wife that perpetuated the fraud.

  4. RTaylor says:

Well Mike you dated yourself as a boomer.

  5. Andrew says:

this might sound bad but how about some creative sentencing? We take their finger and make them eat it!!!

  6. Dirk Billson says:

The punishment doesn’t sem to fit the crime. How many ears would it take these two to repay the revenues lost by Wendys. You have to admit that your appetite for their chili was greatly deminished simply by the allegations this free-loader brought.

  7. M Mulford says:

    How many Ears. Priceless

  8. Jon says:

And now they are in a place where they can really find some fingers in the food….

  9. Eideard says:

Yes — it is the FFFF.

The hubbie got more time because of additional unrelated charges. They just stacked everything together.
