It’s a Charlie Brown Christmas for Rhode Island’s official Christmas tree.
The 18-foot Colorado blue spruce lost its needles and died after Statehouse workers dried it with commercial fans and sprayed it with a fire-retardant chemical. The workers were following the stringent new fire code enacted after a nightclub blaze in West Warwick three years ago killed 100 people.
The pathetic-looking tree was hustled out of the building Wednesday night.
I heard the tree’s nickname was Kenny. Those bastards!
Killing a tree should be considered murder in a civilized country.
Governments should all have artificial trees.
After all, nothing screams artificial like our government.
The tree was dead as soon as it was separated from it’s roots. This is what happens when ill informed midlevel supervisors makes a decision because no upper level supervisors wants to assume the responsibility for a decision. In other words a classic government operation.
There’s got to be a group fighting the murder of trees.
Look out for a big protest with a bunch of people killing other plants and smoking them.
I’m from RI. Good to see our local government’s mishaps on here. Thanks to the Station fire, we now basically have the strictest fire code in the world. If a bunch of hippies got together to play some tunes and people wanted to watch them, a fire marshall would have to be called in (and pain by you, not the government) to ensure everything was safe for the night. One of many rather ridiculous new rules which almost everybody is breaking.
Anyway, the tree did indeed die a fast death. Now they are saying it is ok to have the tree without the chemicals so long as a sufficient amount of fire extinguishers are on hand. See, it isn’t just the President who can make up laws as we go 😉
IDIOTS
Quick, tell Bill 0’Rilley.
This is MORE proof of the secularists attack on Christmas.
The liberal heathen bastards!
I’m from Rhode Island. It’s really just business as usual.
Being from the “Live Free Or Die” state, I can’t sympathize with Ocean State folks…after all it is a “…government of the
people, by the people, for the people…”
