Scientist keep spoiling all my fun!
Cow-tipping myth hasn’t got a leg to stand on
Much to the relief of dairy herds, the sport of cow-tipping has been debunked as an urban, or perhaps rural, myth by scientists at a Canadian university.Ms Boechler … concluded in her initial report that a cow standing with its legs straight would require five people to exert the required force to bowl it over.
Dr Lillie, Ms Boechler’s supervisor, revised the calculations so that two people could exert the required amount of force to tip a static cow, but only if it did not react.
Huh…
Well, that’s why people actually tip sleeping cows instead of cows that are awake.
Seems strange to “debunk” something via calculations without testing, esp. considering I know people who used to do it.
That’s BS. I’ve been cow tipping, so I know it exists. Some friends took me out cow tipping years ago. I ended up falling into some cow dung. When I finally got up my friends were gone. And sure I had to walk the 20 miles back home. And come to think of it, I never actually tipped any cows. But I’m certain it occurs.
BS, while in high school, it only took 1and a bottle of Jim Beam.
Sounds to me like your “friends” took you on what is lovingly called a snipe hunt…. Or have you been on one of those as well Fish?
Only it Canada would scientists get money to study the reality of cow tipping. BTW- The cows sleep standing up so they aren’t awake to fight back. I suppose trying to tip over a wide awake bull might be default, and dangerous.
Actually, this report doesn’t provide anything new. I’ve been cow tipping and yes it requires a lot of liquor and three to four people (or five Canadians). Ok. That does not debunk that it happens.
I’m from Canada… I sure hope this study got no government grants! I know from experience that cow tipping is not only possible, but quite fun! 🙂
