Charlie Rose: Jock sniffer to the Super Rich

Bashing by elite group should worry Bush — Check the headline. Worry Bush? What? He’s not going to get re-elected?

The fact that these meetings exist should worry us all.

ASPEN, Colo. — For two full days, President Bush was bashed. He was taken to task on his handling of stem cell research, population control, the Iraq war and, especially, Hurricane Katrina. The critics were no left-wing bloggers. They were rich, mainly Republican and presumably Bush voters in the last two presidential elections

  1. Ed Campbell says:

I received an email about just this topic, this morning. Rather than a post, let me just include the link, here, to the video of an interview of Eric Margolis. His credentials as a long-standing conservative voice need no editing. His role as contributing editor of AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE should suffice. His criticism of what has become “no fault” government points to the heart of what the Republikan Party has become:

  2. R Taylor says:

Just the party mainstream putting some distance between them and an increasingly unpopular administration. Everyone with a lick of sense knows the Iraq situation is rapidly deteriorating, and Bush will continuing taking poll hits for it. Stem cell therapy equals billions in potential medical dollars, and Bush it delivering it to over sea firms. Sure that’s going to rub the big boys the wrong way. Also the administration is putting the economy at great risks with astronomical deficits. Despite what they say, this isn’t a war of survival where you don’t have the time too worry about tomorrow.

  3. Mike Voice says:

The final sentence says a lot.

It would be a shame if Rove returned to Washington without informing Bush how erstwhile friends have turned against him.

But, as John alludes to – unless “they” can repeal the 22nd amendment – Dubya won’t be running for President again, anyway.
