Happy camper!
Bush nominates Roberts to be next chief justice. — This should annoy the REST of the court. Surely someone there (Scalia?) wanted this job. So the ones that were on Bush’s side should now feel no obligations anymore. So much for the conservative court.
LONDON (MarketWatch) — President Bush on Monday quickly moved to find a successor to William Rehnquist as chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, nominating John Roberts for the post.
In a brief statement, Bush said he’d like Roberts to be confirmed fast enough so that he could be sitting on the bench on the first day of the fall term, Oct. 3.
The nomination as Roberts as chief justice means that Bush will now have to find a replacement for the retiring Sandra Day O’Connor – the position for which Bush had originally earmarked Roberts.
If I was on the bench already i’d be annoyed as well, i’ve worked my ass off for awhile doing all this then have some new guy step in and take the spot!
I certainly hope he pissed off enough people with that one.
I have to say about this whole Supreme Court situation, I’m quite nervous about the years to come.
I read that very few Chief Justices come from the existing court and are appointed from outside.
It’s a lifetime appointment. That’s why it’s hard to predict how a particular Justice will rule in five or ten years. Generally most have moved more to the middle over time.
It’s doubtful that anyone is going to start voting the other way because they were passed over for Chief Justice, The only one I saw accused of campaigning for Chief was Anthony Kennedy when he signed on to a ban on partial-birth abortions a few years back. Thomas would have been a great choice, but supposedly he didn’t want it. The only other possibility was Scalia.
This pic is the worst fake I have ever seen!
The Duh could have picked a far worst person.
Because surely you should become a cheif justice with no prior supreme court experience. Sounds like a good recipe to me.
The simple fact that John Roberts is Bush’s nominee should spark a fierce debate: every major decision Bush has ever made has resulted in disaster. Why should this one be any different?
I suspect he is a sleeper-cell candidate – someone quitely groomed for nomination over a long period of time, and who has studiously avoided anything blatantly disqualifying. The worrisome thing is, this guy is flat out confirmed, no matter what comes out in the hearings. The Dems are ineffectual, and they couldn’t stop the nomination if they tried. And the Repubs would approve anyone Bush appoints, no matter who he is. He could be Vladimir Lenin and they’d approve him.
Hey, I’ve done a lot worse fakes than that pic..come on!! It wasn;t supposed to look real. It was supposed to look silly. Geez!
Didn’t know it was yours – thought you pick it up from a site somewhere.
In this case and in the interests of servile flattery – Wow what a funny fake!
Yes, we can do our own fales when necessary! And we can do them as poorly as anyone!
He Looks like a weasel.
Literally millions of US workers, who have been productively on the job for years, have seen their careers involuntarily evaporate as younger employees arbitrarily take their place. And the Supreme Court did nothing to stop it.
Why should it be different for the Justices.
Next they will be outsourcing the Justices from India and China.
Poetic Justice
I dont think women can have abortions because its killing a child that hasent been born yet. And why would you do that anyways because thats just polluting more and more of the world everyday, everyday that another unborn child is killed. And if yall make it legal to have those abortions yall just suck ass cause thats the stupidest thing this fucking government has ever done
we need more info!!!!!!!!!!! John Roberts needs to post more information about himself
