This works so much better with the forces of death, doesn’t it? Does anyone in this guys church think this isn’t evil?

CBS News | Reactions To Rehnquist’s Death | September 4, 2005 02:00:01 The following is a list of condolences. Curiously our President spoke through his attorney. Classy.

Perhaps he was praying with Robertson, who publicly prayed for this a few weeks ago, to get this to happen?

“President Bush and Mrs. Bush are deeply saddened by the news” of Rehnquist’s death, White House counselor Dan Bartlett said. “It’s a tremendous loss for our nation.”

  1. R Taylor says:

    Gee, two appointments and counting.

  2. M Smith says:

Robertson is the first person I thought of when I heard the news last night. That SOB will be impossible to deal with now.

  3. Uvalde Slim says:

Robertson also said hurricanes were going to hit us in Central Florida 1 year or so before we got hit with 3 hurricanes.

  4. Kathy P. says:

Well, I’m praying for Pat Robertson. Surely God will do something about this lunatic soon. Or I pray thusly….

  5. James Hill says:

I’m sure that to both Bush and Robertson this falls under the “Perfect Timing” catagory.

Why? Now they get to name someone farther to the right than Scalia and Thomas to the court, they get to make one of their guys the Chief Justice, and all with plenty of time left in Bush’s term to make a move on Roe v. Wade.

Personally, I expect Rehnquist’s legacy to be the winner in this long term. He was always a states rights guy, and I expect Roe v. Wade to eventually become a state-by-state decision.

  6. AB CD says:

It’s not like Bush stood there while his lawyer gave the statement. The previous president then deferred to his lawyer when asked if he had raped Juanita Broaddrick.

  7. gquaglia says:

“Curiously our President spoke through his attorney. Classy.”

Like he doen’t have anything else going on right now, Katrina, Iraq, Afganistan, gas crisis, give the man a break.

  8. Johnny Moreno says:

Well someone got assasinated.. Prayer assassinated! Now John i wanna hear your thuoghts on Pat robertsons wish to turn america into a chrstian theocracy, i love to inflame debate!

  9. site admin says:

gquaglia, Hey..the guy is speaking all over the place..been on a five week vacation, he has the time to talk to his attorney (for what). He’s suddenly too busy to speak to the press? Give him ab reak? He just took a five week break.

Curiously I do not beleove that the Bush appointees (extrapolated from the Roberts choice) will be as bad as they could be. At least not as bad as the losers Nixon tried to ram through.

  10. Court says:

Glad to see you’re sticking with tech.

  11. John L says:

He clearly said tech politics and strange things in an episode of twit, quit complaining court.

  12. Dave says:

That picture simply creeps me out.

    From Robertson’s website:

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., September 4, 2005 — William Rehnquist personified the noblest aspects of American jurisprudence. He has been a brilliant Chief Justice and will be sorely missed. I mourn his passing and pray that our President will have the Lord’s wisdom in choosing a successor for this great man.

  13. Dan says:

I am a christian and ashamed of his comments. This is not the type of person I want representing what christianity is about. He failed at a presidential run now seems he says stuff to get himslef media attention

  14. AB CD says:

Who are the Nixon guys you’re upset with? He nominated Rehnquist, Berger, Lewis Powell, and Harry Blackmun, and two others who weren’t confirmed but got 45 votes, from both parties. He also tried to nominate a Congressman Poff because there had never been a Court without a former member of Congress.
