I typed in google and nothing came up. ’nuff said.
Tried a couple of searches for companies with regional and local distributors. Got corporate, OK. No luck on the others.
A search for data security providers gives a good set of results to get started with – no idea of the quality of the entries, though.
They are split up into world regions, and if you select the US, sorted by state.
Their placement of sponsored links is terrible.

I tried a search for software. I got 7,589 results and a search for internet search engines only provided me 5 results. I’m not sure of what your goals are with your site, but more competition couldn’t hurt the search engine business. There sure are a lot of software companies out there.
A search for Linux only provided 64 results. I will use it. You might want to file it here at the blog in your Research category too. Thanks for the find.
Cute…. I met some people back in the Teletype days who wanted me to pay to list my company, and pay to search, a system like this. Tanked….
This one looks good, but a “search within results” option is a necessity. “Badge Holders” gave me 430 results worldwide. Since I was looking for a specific type – “Police”, actually – while a more specific search argument might have done the job here, sometimes you have to nibble at a search by adding constraints you figure out after you see a few.
I was also surprised to NOT see 35,000 results or some such, but I’m guessing they’re scraping commercial sites and not somebody’s blogs, personal pages, etc.
Try “companies” and “Mastercast”, too…. You’ll get an outfit that makes golf jewelry & such. There’s another “Mastercast” in Enon Valley PA that sells ammunition countrywide. Not shown….
(“Ammunition” shows a ton of possibles, if not Mastercast, so it’s not like they skipped the topic.)
Just IMHO….
I typed in tennis shoes in the Product/Services choice and received zero hits! I would have expected at least tenniswarehouse.com for starters. There were several sponsored links.
I do like the fairly simple page layout, fairly concise, approaches Google in this respect. I dislike busy, complex web pages with tons and tons of information.
When I typed in garage door repair it only gave me about 16 hits, and then I had to click on that to get them. I would expect them to be displayed immediately.
Maybe the site will improve over time, right now it is a bit weak in my opinion.
I tried searching for how to disable a garage door’s motion sensor, or buy one without one, but no such luck.
I tried searching on “Eric Schmidt” and a warning screen popped saying I couldn’t use Google for a year. Damn.
Kellysearch is a B2B industry directory. It has very detailed product headings. A search for the word pump for example will bring back over 2400 different listings by type of pump. Sorry no shoes here just the standard industry type of pump. They even have category for peanut butter pump if you need to make candy.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
