Afghanistan travel guide — Here’s an amazing website for people who seriously like to go off the beaten path — to an extreme. Send photos. I’ll post them. I like to travel around the world, but this place seems like the last place I’d want to visit.
This means that you have to be brave in order to venture into Aghanistan. Tourists are not particularly welcome. For the adventurous, who have their mind set on going there, the most sensible thing to do might be crossing the Khyber Pass from Pakistan and move on to Jalalabad. You are on the road to Kabul now, but it may be an idea to turn back…. It should be noted that attacks on foreigners have increased dramatically since 2003 and it would be highly unwise for foreigners to travel without an armed escort.
Then there is this story of continued repression of Afghan women even outside the country!
A California girl in fact
Samadzai could face prosecution if she returns to her native country because of her attire at the Manila pageant, a senior Afghan justice official said yesterday.
Fazel Ahmad Manawi, deputy head of Afghanistan’s Supreme Court, told AP that Samadzai, a college student in California, had betrayed Afghan culture by appearing at the Miss Earth contest in a bikini – and may also have broken the law.
Miss Afghanistan has been featured on cameltoe.org (http://ctoe.bolt.com/womens.html).
She wears a bikini and the head of the Afghan Supreme Court says, “I hope that this lady regrets her actions.” Oh, sure. You bet. Just about the time Islamic fundamentalists regret beheading “infidels.”
Would it be ok to them if she wore clear plastic that covered her entire body? At least she could say she was fully “covered”. : )
The information is somewhat outdated. AND, in the case of this URL about Bahrain, oddly formatted:
