US News Article | Reuters.com — As the case against Karl Rove as a leaker and possibly a geniune traitor bubbles, I’m starting to see interesting parsing that sounds more like the defense of a mob boss.
The White House came under increasing pressure this week to explain Rove’s role in the case after reports that Rove was one of the secret sources who spoke to Time magazine reporter Matt Cooper about Plame and her husband. Rove’s lawyer was quoted as saying his client did not mention Plame by name.
Faced with jail if he did not discuss his sources, Cooper agreed last week to testify in the investigation. New York Times reporter Judith Miller refused to testify about sources she spoke to on the story and was jailed.
That “not mentioning Plame by name” would go like this, “You never know who works for the CIA undercover, do you? Some people in high places, such as, say, the Ambassador to Iraq, might have a wife like that, huh?”
That’s not mentioning her by name is it? I don’t think this is going to blow over like they are hoping. Exactly why the right-wingers aren’t up in arms about this is very strange since this is a total violation of everything they believe. Or is it that this never happened?
I’d like to have Moby’s money. Karl ..err sorry – Frank.
No I’m just I working guy who has friends in the 278 RCT from Tennessee that I don’t want killed to no reason.
BTW – I voted to W the first election and supported the Afghan campaign until him until he became duhbya.
Hey I wanted to ask how you got the pres’s press sec to lie for you – Oh sorry again! I mean Karl Rove.
In a Grand Jury investigation, the first witness called MUST be the one spelling out the crime. If the Grand Jury doesn’t have a crime then there is nothing for it to investigate and must therefore be dismissed. Therefore a top level member of the CIA would have had to testify that Valerie Plame indeed worked in a protected position and the reveling of her name would be a crime. Because the Grand Jury has continued to sit, then they must have been handed a crime. Since Patrick Fitzgerald was appointed to investigate the publication of Valerie Plame’s name and occupation, it is reasonable to believe that a crime has been committed.
Frank, I know many Vietnam vets who opposed that war. Not all do, but most realize the futility and waste caused by that war. If John Kerry made any mistake during the campaign, it was not suing the Swift Boat Veterans challenging his record. Kerry’s war record remains un-impeached to this day. Bush’s record, along with the rest of his cabal, is a disgrace. The Republican leadership is rotten to the core.
