I stumbled across a couple of nice slide shows for the famous Route 66. The one here below, done mostly by Terrance Moore, shows some astonishing images.

You are aware, aren’t you, that after Route 66 ceased to be, portions were signposted as Route 666, here in New Mexico.
Until last year, when our [wannabe VP and, then, Pres] governor and legislature decided that was offending some of the superstitious voters in the state and changed it to some other number.
