Venice — Here is my slideshow from Venice Italy. If you haven’t been there. Go! I’ll try to post new and interesting slideshows weekly.

    One question and one suggestion:

How do you make these slideshows? Do you use any software package? (Sorry if you already answered that question)

The suggestion is that maybe you could make your links open in a new window. That way we wouldn’t have to click on back and wait for the blog to reload.

BTW, lovely photos! And I never imagined you could find a Macdonalds in Venice!! 🙂

    Keep’em coming!

If you look at the source you’ll find some Javascript I dug up about four years ago that makes the slideshow work. It’s one of the few things that actually works better in MSIE than Firefox since it does “fades.” With Firefox and Opera the pics just change from one to the other without the fades. You can use the code yourself, it’s pretty easy to cut and paste it into your own slide show page and it’s easy to figure out and somewhat documented. I spent a couple of months finding this software and still prefer it to almost everything else.

I added the “open new page” code for it, thanks.

A very nice selection of your photos.

Just coming back from a vacation, myself, I can imagine how long it took to “narrow the field”.

I wouldn’t think to take the street-scene shots, unless there was a particular building facade I liked – but maybe I would if I visited such a lovely place.

The one I did a double-take on was the bowl & bottles on the table. I think it looks wonderful, but then wondered what you looked like in the restaurant – pushing back your chair and taking a picture. 🙂

Would be nice if there was a way all of the photos were listed so the impatient do not need to sit through them to get to a certain picture.

  5. Nice photos. Keep it up, preferably without bloody adverts. *wink*

Geez Roy I run the most unobtrusive ad I can imagine and you complain. Meanwhile the homepage is a nighmare of crummy ads.

As for Mike’s comment. I make these restaurnat shots all the time usually with a small digital cam. I do it so fast nobody ever notices.

And as for the slide show type, there is no index to it and you can’t ust jump to the one good pic. I do have a system that does that I’ll think about it.

  7. Ed Campbell says:

I guess I should have gone there when I was in the “neighborhood. But, in the old days — when I used to go to Europe, every other year — it was usually on foot or hitchhiking. I had a hard and fast rule not to hang out anywhere where there were lots of Americans. I found that was where folks started to lose their open-mindedness about differentiating between Americans and their governments.

The exception [in my traveling days] was Firenze [Florence].

I did hang out on the coast, south of Venice, though. That’s where I first learned that Italian for “the beach” — was “il pisso”!

Cool shots,,,, but how about the Girls of venice series -;)

  9. Munaciello e’ sinonimo di ristorante firenze ma anche florence restaurants per tutti coloro che cercano a Firenze (in Florence) una vera pizza napoletana.
