I have always said that there is no such thing as bad words– just words used badly. Profanity dashed on discourse can be delicious, or simply effective. Using profanity well is no more or less difficult than using any other vocabulary well. Both under- and overseasoning can be equally unsatisfying.
I’ve held the belief that most foul language is because the speaker doesn’t know any more appropriate words or know how to express him or herself any better. In other words, something the less educated / intelligent speak to show their ignorance.
I don’t think there is any true “good” use of profanity. By its nature, it is designed to shock and offend. While slang in general may be used effectively, profanity cannot.
