Living will is the best revenge — Here is a gutsy Editorial mocking the Schiavo situation from all sorts of angles. Worth reading before they tar and feather this poor chap.

* I want my wife to ruin the rest of her life by maintaining an interminable vigil at my bedside. I’d be really jealous if she waited less than a decade to start dating again or otherwise rebuilding a semblance of a normal life.

* I want my case to be turned into a circus by losers and crackpots from around the country who hope to bring meaning to their empty lives by investing the same transient emotion in me that they once reserved for Laci Peterson, Chandra Levy and that little girl who got stuck in a well.

* I want those crackpots to spread vicious lies about my wife

  1. Rick Markey says:

This guy is right on the money. No matter what side you were on in the Schiavo case, the one good thing that came out of it is an awareness of the need for a will, a living will if you’re so inclined, and the need for a durable power of attorney. If you have strong views about how your life should be handled in the event of a disabling medical event, then get a living will and designate someone you trust as your power of attorney. It will save everyone involved a lot of heartache.

    Great satire!
This guy really has guts to stand up like this as severe abuse is soon to follow.
Of the many awful points raised in his article, the abuse suffered by the other poor folks dying in that hospice and their relatives from the 24 hour circus outside their windows was
not mentioned in the media. Despite the fact that the media pretty much created this monster – with their willing accomplices, the loonies and the psychopaths we call politicians, of course.

    Very nicely said.

Have you seen the “Hungry… Grab a Snickers” Terri Schiavo Pictures. Or the “Not going anywhere for a while… Grab a Snickers”. I have seen the first, but lost it. Here is the second.

  5. USA Today reported on Terry’s bulimia.

Terry probably would have wanted the feeding tube removed. The only reason she had a feedling tube was because she was starving herself bulimically (binge and purge).

Strange silence on her bulimia. Only living wills got plenty of coverage and attention. Ghoulish, isn’t it?

  6. K B says:

Congress will be absolutely delighted if people believe that this story has anything whatsoever to do with “the importance of having a living will.” Talk about a red herring! If we have reached the point that we need to start using living wills to protect ourselves from the government– instead of as a simple statement of our medical wishes– God help us.

The truth is that our government, and the press, have grown quite adroit at dodging critical issues by telling us what a story is *really* about.

Legitimate governments don’t need late-night Palm Sunday sessions.
