U.S. census report paints America by numbers
The 31 pounds of cheese eaten per person in 2002 was up about 75 percent from 1980.
In 2002, 58 percent of people 18 and older were above a healthy weight, and 23 percent were considered obese.
On average, drivers in a U.S. household got behind a steering wheel for 21,188 miles in 2001, up roughly 75 percent since 1977.

It has always irked me that the government has expanded the Census beyond its original purpose ( of providing a head count of the population in order to determine the number of representatives each state may have) to the point where it is now an almanac of facts about the typical american lifestyle.
