The Seattle Times: Sports: Outlook for Cal Bears: rosy — The untold story in the news was the cheap shot taken at the end of the game by a chickenshit Standford player who decked a punt return man long before the ball ever arrived. A sorry reflection on the team and coaching staff. The Stanford player was ejected from the game marking the end of his senior year. There were other moments in the game where the poorly coached Stanford team was hit with unsportsman-like conduct penalties. This didn’t surprise me since Stanford has always been a school where sportsmanship is not actually taught there. Don’t forget that this is the school that forfeited a conference Rugby game rather than play Cal out of supposed fear of being hurt. And that was Rugby! In fact they just didn’t want to suffer a humiliating loss. The day was long for Stanford as the morning of the 41-6 blowout the number two ranked Stanford water polo team lost to Cal too.

In the big game Stanford only mustered two crummy field goals in 60 minutes of play.

One weird irony to the game is that Stanfords head coach was the guy who was fired by the new Cal athletic director when she was at Tulsa. After three straight losses to Cal he’s out the door you can be sure. They are a heartless bunch. Personally I think they should give him at least one more year. :)

BERKELEY, Calif. — A blowout victory in the Big Game has always been a perfect way to end a season at California.

Except these Golden Bears aren’t done yet. After a 41-6 win over Stanford yesterday, they started smelling roses.

J.J. Arrington ran for 169 yards to set Cal’s single-season rushing record, and the fourth-ranked Bears earned their biggest victory since 1930 in their biggest rivalry. With each big run, big pass and big defensive stop in the Big Game, Rose Bowl president Dave Davis was ever more impressed.

Now to find someone with Rose Bowl tickets.
