  1. John Ryle says:

How many hurricanes will hit Florida this year? Are we supposed to be reading this as some sort of divine commentary on the Bush clan? Perhaps a warning for them not to cheat in the next presidential election… or for Floridians not to vote Republican?

  2. Anonymously says:

If I were a religious man, I’d probably question what Florida has done in the past few years that would deserve such a pounding …

  3. Joe Gaffney says:

Didn’t they tighten the building codes in Florida after Andrew? 14 years later and it’s the same all over again. I served in Okinawa where the homes are made out of concrete. They just suffered a similar hit from a typhoon last week with minimal damage. When are we going to learn?

  4. Ed Campbell says:

You don’t need divine commentary to have learned, by now, that the ocean water engine that drives hurricanes is warmer than ever. But, George W. and his acolytes say that is [a] unimportant; [b] is nothing new; or [c] untrue.

If [c], then someone had better buy NASA a re-calibrated thermometer. I watched one of their leading meteorologists reiterate the fact of rising ocean termperatures, just today.

  5. Mike Voice says:

I’m always amazed by the people who live on flood-plains, in tornado alleys, and in hurricane/lightning zones – but wouldn’t think of living on the left-coast, due to the earthquakes! 🙂
