Not surprisingly I haven’t seen most on the list. Here’s my thoughts about some that I did see:

    Office Space
funny as hell, but most movies about something other than artists are unapprecitated.

    The Big Lebowski
eh…wasn’t that great. Wasn’t that funny.

    Election
As appreciated as it should have been IMO.

    Dark City
Great film. Again, anything dark, sarcastic or non-mushy is a good candidate for “under appreciated.”

    case in point:

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
It’s very British which is why it would fall into the category of “under appreciated.” Great movie, but slow at times.

    Go
eh…ok..Again, as appreciated as it should have been.

    Rounders
Was very much appreciated and quite excellent. Really jump started Damon’s and Norton’s career. Awesome movie.

    Mallrats
was not under appreciated..its was *over* appreciated. Worst of Kevin Smith’s films. Clerks was also under appreciated and was far, far, far better.

    Quick and The Dead
Are you kidding me? That movie sucked my dog’s !@#$. Terrible movie. The worst Eastwood movie blows away The Quick and the Dead. Sharon Stone as a gun fighter was the worst idea since new Coke.

Office Space was on BRAVO today and I had to watch it yet again. That movie is priceless.

Well, if we were going further back in time, I would nominate Once Upon a Time in the West as the greatest underappreciated movie of all time. In fact, it is the single greatest movie I have ever seen. But I digress….

Searching for Bobby Fischer, which *is* on the 50 list, is a movie I regularly recommend to anyone who would like to understand the psychology of the chessplayer. It’s not a great movie, but it certainly warrants a grade of A. My one caveat, which almost turns me against the movie: It lies. The climactic final round ended in a draw, not a victory for Josh. That’s a hard dishonest flaw to forgive– but, darn it, I still like the movie.

[Final note: One thing that is not distorted in the movie is the behavior of parents at these scholastic events. It’s as bad as all that.]
