Patent problems plague Linux . More of the same, only different.
When you start to read these sorts of stories you realize that the probalem with the GNU/GPL approach is that it cannot create blocking patents that can be used as leverage against other patents. Sigh.
Well, maybe it can, but I don’t see that happening. The good news is that there are a lot of smart and a lot of noisy people in the Linux camp. Microsoft gets around obscure and unknown software patent issues by scrambling the code. Linux can’t be scrambled since it goes against the entire open-source idea.
I’m starting to think that software is like eggs. You can have them scrambled, sunny side up, over easy or whatever. I guess Linux could be scrambled in different ways to make it more confusing. This whole patent issue seems like the chicken or the egg debate. If Windows is scrambled eggs, who is layed the eggs? I guess I’m a bit of an egghead.
Patent problems plague Linux. Windows problems plague Microsoft users. You just can’t win! Either what you are doing is illegal, it doesn’t work or a combination of both. Maybe the NSA should put out an operating system like what NASA uses. Heck, we Americans paid for the best operating systems on Earth and we’re stuck using this crap. They have an OS that can get a crew and a ton of gear from here to the Moon and back.. I can’t even count on my lousy desktop PC to boot and when it does I never know when it will crash. I’m not asking for too much am I?
