bergerApparently ex-Clinton Nation Security honcho Sandy Berger stuffed some secret documents in his pockets and pants and now they are after him. Could this get any weirder?

  1. Ed Campbell says:

Latest news programs report all that Berger stuffed in his pockets was [1] his own notes and [2] COPIES of documents remaining in the archives.

Why write notes except to take them with you? When you’re researching, John, do you make notes just to be certain you destroy them before you can use them?

Lots of misquoting on [2]. Do TV “reporters” ever question their teleprompter?

And, since this investigation [and the incident] really happened about a year ago, should one consider the timing somewhat suspect? Especially with the 9/11 report is released, tomorrow.

  2. Anonymously says:

Yes, it’s quite weird. Particularly when this occurred in October 2003 and we’re hearing about it the week of the 9/11 report.

Weird that Republicans are claiming that this is some kind of amorphous scheme to benefit Kerry, but how it would work, and the fact that it looked like Howard Dean had it locked up in October isn’t explained.

Weird that it happened in October and he still hasn’t been charged with anything.

Weird that he was looking at copies and not originals.

So, it really is weird that Berger took copies of documents that the government has originals of elsewhere as part of a conspiracy to somehow benefit Kerry, when Dean looked like the presumptive nominee and the documents were about Clinton-era activities, and he hasn’t been charged with anything in 9 months the week the 9/11 report is coming out.
