Harrahs, Caesars boards said to OK merger. Here’s yet another mega-merger headed our way. This time the lucrative casino businesses are merging left and right. It was as I read this article where it was mentioned that

“Caesars was formed as Park Place Entertainment in 1998, when the company went public. It changed its name last Jan. 1 to Caesars Entertainment, with brands including Caesars, Bally’s, Paris, Hilton, Flamingo and Grand Casinos.”

and

“Harrah’s was founded in the 1930s in Reno by Bill Harrah, who died in 1978. Its brand names are Harrah’s, Harveys, Rio and Showboat.”

All these brands under one management umbrella not only takes away from the individuality of the various operations but must, by its structure, create a monoculture that benefits nobody. It’s grim.
