Closing MicrosoftMy new PC Mag online column just posted last night. I think you’ll be mildly amused by this one. In it I discuss the concept that Microsoft can shut itself down on a whim.

Sounds like a plan. BTW, you spoke my mind when you talk about the death of keyboards. Actually, what all these futurists predicting the end of keyboards don’t realize is we had that in the past… it was called a secretary.

  2. One post here at your Blog! I checked the PC Mag forum and it had 144 post. You might want to link your blog with the column. You don’t have a monopoly on your opinion column John.

On the issue of closing Microsoft, you might want to note that they are planning on a new START button and another monopoly.

“Imagine this scenario: Today, Microsoft puts the Windows Marketplace button on the [Start] menu, so every user is automatically deposited on the doorsteps of its retail partners. Few users of Windows XP will fail to obtain this new button, because it is expected to be released in service pack 2 of Windows XP — which will be ready for mass consumption in a few weeks.”

Excellent stuff by Dave Radin, the whole article is here:
