intel booth CES 2007

It’s hard to draw an audience. This is especially true at an event like the 2007 CES where everyone else around you is also screaming their lungs out (mostly figuratively) for attention. Think of a nest of chicks fighting for the worm. Intel had an extremely large and elaborate booth, with scale-model interactive video racing for prizes up front. intel booth 2007 ces
There were interactive kiosks and booth docents everywhere.

Speaking of games, Rhapsody held a quiz show at their booth, where costumed CES attendees competed for prizes. Qualcomm held a “dig” for ancient technology, reminding us of how far we’ve come. Can you recognize all the devices in the background?

Here are some car electronics pics I must have overlooked. You’d have to beef up your vehicle suspension for that speaker. Speaking of speakers, this demo car from JL Audio has a functional steering wheel made out of a functioning midrange.

In the miscellaneous technology area, the WildCharger wireless charging pad is a new device that promises to eliminate extension cords and separate power adapters by providing power through an intelligent power interface pad. The technology is non-inductive, and is based on technology similar to that of an earlier pad power system called Mobilewise (no longer in business). Silicon Image demonstrated how the latest HDMI spec can integrate inputs from multiple devices.

lost photos   camera umbrella

The pile of photographs reminding passers-by of what you can lose along with your laptop was in the airport baggage claim area, a cute bit of synergistic marketing. Speaking of photography, these little umbrellas for cameras may make others smile, but they’ll help keep your gear dry.

John in your Marketwatch coulmn titled – Ballmer, iPhone and the reality-distortion field – You gave MS a backhanded complement. I’m thinking with all the cold weather you’ve been having, you caught fever causing delirium.

I want to go to one of these shows. I’ve never been to a tech show, always thought they were for geeks bearing gifts. But just to see the myrid ways the companies come up with to get your attention would be worth it, and who knows, maybe I would finally learn which way is up on my computor. 🙂

How many of those digital photos are porn? And where is your report of the big porn show last w/e in Vegas….come on guys….we know you and John at least peeked in.

  3. *wingz* says:

The only interesting things there were big screens and audio gear just a small notch better than last year! I am so over Las Vegas – can we just bury the CES now. Please.

“Think of a nest of chicks fighting for the worm.”

For some reason, that came off as a very sexy statement…

    2,

This year you couldn’t get into the adult video show as press unless you registered well in advance. I guess they’ve decided that they didn’t need the spill-over from CES anymore.

    🙁

    4,

As long as they aren’t the kind with beaks…

  6. Lightbulb42 says:

Enough CES already! It’s been covered to death. Especially since there wasn’t anything even remotely new and exciting this year.
