He’s become the Britney of the spiritual set — no one can really take him seriously, but like the box the toy came in, he provides hours of amusement. Now he’s turned God into Kreskin’s assistant.

Pat Robertson: God told me of ‘mass killing’ in 2007

Evangelical broadcaster Pat Robertson said Tuesday that God has told him that a terrorist attack on the United States would cause a “mass killing” late in 2007.

“I’m not necessarily saying it’s going to be nuclear,” he said during his news-and-talk television show “The 700 Club” on the Christian Broadcasting Network.

“The Lord didn’t say nuclear. But I do believe it will be something like that.”

Robertson said God told him about the impending tragedy during a recent prayer retreat.

God also said, he claims, that major cities and possibly millions of people will be affected by the attack, which should take place sometime after September.

Robertson suggested in January 2006 that God punished then-Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon with a stroke for ceding Israeli-controlled land to the Palestinians.

The broadcaster predicted in January 2004 that President Bush would easily win re-election.

Bush won 51 percent of the vote that fall, beating Democratic Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts.

In 2005, Robertson predicted that Bush would have victory after victory in his second term. He said Social Security reform proposals would be approved and Bush would nominate conservative judges to federal courts.

Lawmakers confirmed Bush’s 2005 nominations of John Roberts and Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. But the president’s Social Security initiative was stalled.

“I have a relatively good track record,” he said. “Sometimes I miss.”

In May, Robertson said God told him that storms and possibly a tsunami were to crash into America’s coastline in 2006.

Even though the U.S. was not hit with a tsunami, Robertson on Tuesday cited last spring’s heavy rains and flooding in New England as partly fulfilling the prediction.

    Ignorance, just plain ignorance!!!

  2. erik says:

“I have a relatively good track record,” he said. “Sometimes I miss.” Doesn’t this mean that “god” misses? After all isn’t he just a bull horn for god? The belief in god is delusional. http://www.whydoesgodhateamputees.com/video7.htm

  3. John says:

Is this an indication that he is planing a terrorist attack himself? I think it just might be.

  4. Jägermeister says:

It’s not Pat we should worry about… it’s the people who believe and follow in him.

  5. Kerry says:

    This is so sad.

  6. jtoso says:

He needs to have a fatal heart attack.

  7. RTaylor says:

The secret to being a sayer is to make a lot of predictions, and only remind people of the ones that came true. Sorta like John does with his tech columns. 🙂

  8. rectagon says:

In the Old Testament when a prophet was wrong… he was stoned (and not by drugs either). All in favour of bringing this rule back to Patty?

  9. Ron says:

Predicting a terrorist attack isn’t exactly going out on a limb. I think everyone would agree that the US is real high on the list terrorist targets. Pat Robertson has been saying stuff like this for years, and if you look the only ones that come true are the ‘no S%^&’ ones. An example would be the storms and tsunami prediction. After 2005, everyone was talking about how bad a hurricane season 2006 would be and tsunamis were a big topic as well. Plus, a lot of people were talking about the East Coast and maybe New England was ‘due’ for a hurricane.

Can we please just ignore this attention whore?

    (hey that rhymes!)

  11. Dallas says:

    Just another Republican nutt case.

Only this one has the presidents ear.

  12. jason says:

Wonder if I could get a stock tip from the big man…. or lottery numbers… hmmmm.

  13. Mucous says:

I still want Pat to run for President. Pat for the Republicans and Al Sharpton for the Democrats. I could be entertained by that one.

  14. Sounds The Alarm says:

    #14

    I like it!

We can have a pool. Bet on who will insult the other first in the name of Christ.

  15. Mr. Fusion says:

#15, Great idea. But it has to be a deep pool. Put about 100 lbs of weight around each waist then see which can get out of the deep end first. God will protect both the Reverends. Jesus can officiate. After all, he cleans the pool after everybody leaves too. Though, he might also need Jose to help clean the pool after this.

  16. Bruce IV says:

I agree with #8 – in the Old Testament, a prophet getting one prediction wrong was enough to get them labelled a false prophet and stoned – I’d settle for Pat Robertson shutting up.

  17. rog says:

Not fair, Kreskin has never claimed any special powers, abilities or connections.

otoh, if you want to take on Rudy Gellar….

  18. tallwookie says:

With luck it’ll be the raputre

  19. ChrisMac says:

Gee.. I sure hope they don’t nuke the 700 club.

Pat should lay off the meth

  20. Angel H. Wong says:

I predict that I will fart a couple of hours after I eat beans. God told me that.

  21. Elwood Pleebus says:

No doubt Pat could ‘predict’ some safe haven from the mass killing if you donate some money to his club.

  22. Bryan Price says:

As I keep saying (complaining? probably!), if there truly was a God, Robertson would be dead by lightning bolt by now. In fact, there’d be a whole slew of people dead by lightning bolt.

  23. Mike Bergerson says:

and on that note don’t do drugs kids

  24. dh says:

“No, Pat. What I actually said told you was, ‘Please shut the f@#$ up.'”
