Holy Crap! It looks like magic! I practically live on the road and use the “stuff it in the bag and iron every morning in the hotel” method. I’m going to give this a try.
It’s called the Ninja Folding technique… A few practice rounds and you’ll be Ninja Folding your self to The Eighth Way Snake Following Giraffe Pokemon Kamakazi… or something…
I think I saw this five-point-exploding-fold technique during the closing credits for Crouching Laundry, Hidden Calgon.

That’s pretty cool. Not sure if it actually saves space though (vs other folding methods, or rolling).
Looks damn cool though… that second step looks like a magic trick (and feels like it is when you are trying to follow the video, but it’s easy).

When I have nothing to do
I go to the Gap and watch them fold garments while chewing gum.
Does it work with undies too ?

When I showed my wife, she just moaned “that is why they invented the iron”.
To explain it in words – you pull one corner to the opposite side, then – still holding the the mid-point – pick up the shirt and it should sort of fold itself from its own weight. It might need a little flick to get it to do that.
The rest is just a simple fold.

I’m not sure that it takes up less space than a ball… After all a sphere has the smallest area of an object. All hotels/motels have irons and ironing boards in them any way! I tend to just shove as much as I can fit into the thing, and neaten it up when I get to my destination…
But what the heck do I know, I only go away on ‘vacation’ every couple of years, and never go away on business.
That little mysterious flute in the background with the disembodied amazed voices really makes that video! I just love it when small simple touches puts something over-the-top.
It works great – on short-sleeved shirts. Anyone modified this technique for long-sleeved shirts??
Wow, i found this same video ages ago.
I tried several times and simply can’t do it, it’s like copying a card trick, or learning to dance fm a video.
I Guess there’s a reason why geeks aren’t known for being graceful.
There is a longsleeve shirt method I’ve seen demo’d by a Nordstroms person..I am trying to track it down.
