From Blake Ross:

It’s true that Firefox is bundled with Dell laptops in the UK. More to come…

Combined with the news that Microsoft has pulled its browser development for the Macintosh, can we assume that the company has thrown in the towel in this browser war? Or is there something else up its sleeve?

Don’t go thinking Microsoft has stopped screwing up peoples computers with IE. I’m sure we will be annoyed by Microsoft’s browser for years to come.

  2. I’d like to say it’s thrown in the towel, but I’d imagine that’s not likely. With MS pitching it’s new services, and jumping (poorly) onto the AJAX bandwagon — I’m sure their Browser will continue to play a roll as they move to their own proprietary code and pass on standards support.

If Windows update on Vista becomes an app severed from IE, and ActiveX gets canned, then we’ll think differently:) Until then, IE will be around, just not as lively.

    Here’s a sidebar giggle:

“Lenovo declared today to install William J. Amelio as its CEO to replace Steve Ward. Mr. Amelio was Dell’s head of Asia Pacific operation before joining Lenovo and had been a veteran executive in NCR, Honeywell, AlliedSignal, and IBM.”

Amerlio and Ward worked together at IBM. Ward’s staying on as consultant. Does anyone think they love M$oft?

You need a link to a special section where these ladies can congregate.
    You do have taste

No, but they are glad that MS is on the east side of the Pacific
In time MS may be the only force to keep the west in the PC market.

Short term PC system growth is predicted to be flat here versus >10% compound in India – Asia. Guess where all the US venture capital is going?
