Retired sniffer dogs that have spent years on police patrol are now working in the private sector in the US – sniffing out teenagers’ bedrooms. Parents can rent a dog and handler for $200 an hour from Sniff Dogs, a firm operating in New Jersey and Ohio…

The company says the animals can smell marijuana from up to 15 feet away and residue on clothing from drugs smoked two days earlier.

The dogs sit when they detect the drugs but they leave the final inspection to the parents.

Pat Winterstein from Washington, New Jersey decided to use the service to search the bedrooms of her three children.

“I trust my kids, but you only can trust them so far…”

This is a positive generational relationship?

Who’s a goodsey woodsey cuddlesy wuddlesy sniffery whiffery doggy! Booh booh booh! Yes you are!

  2. Special Ed says:

I taught my dog tricks like, “relax.” This crotch sniffer doesn’t do much else.

    #27, Bobbo,

Real high tables over pits filled with spikes and alligators?

Naa, where we lived it was too cold for alligators. So everyone just used broken glass.

  4. Mr. Fusion says:

If this is someone’s idea of building bridges between parents and children, I think they just bought a bridge to nowhere.

An’ I ain’t for it before I’s aginst it !!!

The same thing happens in industry. You don’t bring in dogs to search everyone’s locker, car, desk, or whatever. You hired adults, not children. If you suspect someone is intoxicated, then check out that specific individual, not everyone in a such a demeaning way.

Ya when your at it, put a chip in your kids ass.
Then you can move to England.

  6. Mr Truther says:

Trust. I had a real problem with my kids stealing my pot, them there was the time they drank my 21 salute chivas and replaced it with cheap stuff.

  7. Glenn E. says:

Better still, sic the DEA on your kids. This is so typical of US thinking. Rather than just talking to the kids, and explaining why drug use is bad. The first thought is to rely on some technological fix, like sniffer dogs or polygraph machines. Parents like that, shouldn’t even be raising kids. Because they obviously don’t think enough of them to respect their own minds. And I’m almost certain that anti-drug education in the US is being stifled by corporate interests.

One South Park episode hit it on the head. Talk to the kids, rather than engaging in some weird paranoid scare tactics. This will just alienate kids from their parents, even more. And dogs can’t tell the difference between first hand and second hand drug smells. So one user could contaminate ten other innocent kids’ clothing. Not to mention all those cocaine contaminated bills floating around. What’s in your wallet?

bobbo #20–peanut==everything you say is contained within what I said. And i said much more.

Ahh ya, okay… sure you did… contained in your post were three sentences of such incredible brevity, clarity and wit that you said it all. You must be very clever. 😀
