How many years in prison would the innocent men have gotten if there hadn’t been the video? How many others across the country are in prison because there was no video? How many cases in NY will be looked into and overturned because there was this video?
Putting cameras in cop cars was a good, first step. Maybe all invasive video in cities isn’t such a bad idea if it keeps crap like this from happening!
Undercover NYPD Officers Frame 4 On Drug Charges
Undercover police officers who arrested four men on drug charges are under investigation after surveillance video proved the men they arrested committed no crime.
Drug charges against brothers Jose Colon and Maximo Colon, along with two of their friends have been dropped.
The undercover NYPD officers are seen on video dancing in the street, then attempting to frame four innocent men.
“I asked police officer why are you arresting me,” said Maximo Colon. “Never did I get an answer.”
The investigators swore under oath they bought drugs from the four men. Jose and Maximo colon say that didn’t happen.
“The cops are supposed to help us,” said a shaken Jose Colon.
Who can you trust in our f_’d up world if you can’t trust your local cops?
Defense lawyers say it’s disturbing but not uncommon.
“As defense attorneys you know it exists more often than government wants you to believe,” said Brad Wolk.
That’s awful. I hope that those policemen will be behind bars soon.

Treat a cop with respect!? fukc that! I wouldn’t piss on a burning cop. But then I don’t break any laws so i don’t have to deal with ’em.

I was arrested by the Dumfries, VA PD. I was walking my dogs one night, when a man points a shotgun at me and robs me. I was so calm through the whole ordeal, the report says, that the officer got suspicious and I was arrested for allegedly filing a false police report. And I worked for a neighboring police department! Because of the arrest, I lost my job and my dreams. Anybody in VA, Joseph Ruhren of Jojo’s Ice Cream Shack in Dumfries is responsible for this.
#5, The cop must have recognized the MO of the assailant as belonging to his brother-in-law.

I know the drill, we all hate cops..
But, you also must understand their job.
they need to be the NOSEY person that knows EVERYTHING and everyone in town, and what is happening.
the FIRST law should be..
Only laws that pertain to the interaction of MORE then 1 person, should be made.
Otherwise know as..
If I AINT hurting ANYONE, except myself…WHO CARES, LEAVE ME ALONE.
Cops are only there to enforce LAWS… WE ARE the ones that VOTED for the laws..CHANGE them, and you can have your freedom back.
what i find STUPID, is that a cop is considered a professional witness.
and ANY witness is considered NOTHING unless HIS occurrence agrees with the cops.

Those cops should go down for 4X the sentence those innocent guys would have got. That would be justice served.
It’s sad to see more and more people making the generalization that all cops are ‘evil’ scum and whatnot. Sure these officers ought to lose their jobs, and get jail time, but also consider that it was two people here.
Police departments are big, and just because one officer somewhere else decides to be a dick doesn’t mean I will be. (I’m currently studying for Law Enforcement.)
I respect the average cop here in San Francisco as a civil servant doing a sometimes dangerous, but most times boring, thankless job for relatively low wages. Civil service tends to draw a disproportion amount of opportunists looking to get over on the system. When you mix in guns and power to this equation you wind up with alot of creeps doing the opposite of what they’re there for. My solution is better screening, training, oversight, and pay.
I think Patrick should be given credit for not towing the party line this time. I have read many of Patrick’s posts and he has been taken to task for them. Rightfully so in my opinion but,post #12 shows some independence in his thinking.

This sort of stuff happens all the time and has happened for as long as there has been law enforcement. You have two distinct personality types that are attracted to this dangerous job that pays poorly and is under appreciated.
1) The person who obeys all the rules and wants everyone else to obey them too.
2) The person who loves to exert power over others.
In the town I grew up in we had four cops who routinely would beat up young drunk guys and charge them with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The typical sentence was two weekends in jail and 80 hours community service. The testimony of two cops trumps most other witnesses in court, with or without a jury.
I am law abiding disabled citizen who believes in my constitutional right to bear arms and I was arrested on two different ocassions for being accused of brandishing a firearm while being threatened and concerned for my safety in my own home. What is wrong with this picture? I was arrested because they claimed I did this. What are we as to do to protect our constitutional rights. What has this country become? Any suggestions?
