CTV.ca | Mount St. Helens emits plume of steam, ash — Well, if you’ve flown over it, the dome does need work!

Mount St. Helens in Washington state has spewed ash and steam thousands of metres into the air.

But it isn’t clear at this point whether the volcanic mountain was actually erupting lava.

The 2,950-metre-high mountain last erupted in May 1980, but geologists thought it was coming very close to another eruption this past fall.

Molten rock known as magma had reportedly flowed to the top of its dome in mid-October after the mountain had become noticeably more geologically active in late September.
