Natalie Portman’s lifecast – valleywag.com: The whole reality TV is a phenomenon that never captured me. Now it appears that Natalie Portman (Queen Amidala in the unholy Star Wars Prequels) wants to do a project similar to Justin.tv. I don’t now about you, but I have visited Justin to see what the deal is, and besides the incident where one of the viewers played a prank on them by calling the cops, there really isn’t that much to see.
Natalie Portman, the actress who played Queen Padmé Amidala in the Star Wars saga, is touring around Silicon Valley in search of funding for a new project. The winsome movie star, who came to public notice as a 12-year-old in the charge of a grizzled assassin, is proposing a continuous video feed of her work and personal life. One investor that met with her: George Zachary of Charles River Ventures, the former playboy who now gets his kicks by investing at extraordinary valuations. Remind me: when did Silicon Valley go Hollywood?
One of Zachary’s colleagues asked, rather indiscreetly, on Twitter: “How big of an audience do you think natalie portman lifecasting could attract?”
The answer? I’m sure it could draw a crowd, at least initially. Natalie Portman is attractive, and the concept of the celebrity reveal-all is sufficiently fresh, at least on the web. When other Hollywood stars follow the lead, which they will, the novelty will wear off. Then, again, that’s exactly what they’ve been saying about reality television for, oh, about the last five years.
Natalie Portman 24/7? What do you people think?
Dewd, I’m so there. 😉 I’ll watch from my Windows Mobile phone.
If the camera was just on her the whole time, it would be better.
GAK!!!
Somehow I don’t think movie studios are going to allow 24/7 coverage of her while shooting a movie. But I think it’s cool of her to be interested in doing something like this.
Sign me up. NOW!
Good, another “reality” TV show for me not to watch. Hurrah!
….
Q: What is the difference between a computer and a network executive.
A: A computer has a “brain”.
This will pull in virgins from every country on planet earth. See #1, #2, and #5 for examples.
#7 I don’t think you need to be a virgin to appreciate Miss Portman’s…. uh, talent..
#8 – She couldn’t act her way out of a paper bag. C’mon…
I don’t agree with her politics, but she’s a cute kid….
Might be fun to watch for a little while, but not exactly really high on my list.
Regards,
Stu.
#9 I guess i should have said “talent” – then my meaning may have been a bit more clear…
She’s starting to get cute again.
it’s gotta be better than justin.tv
As long as the camera is not mounted on her head, then it’s great. I don’t to look at what she’s seeing, I want to watch her. I can look at her all day long. Make it happen!
8. I prefer my females have something other than the body of a 13 year old boy. I did love The Professional though. Great flick. Gary Oldmans one bad a*ss M*ther…….
You can divide actors into two neat groups, those whose performance depends on their director and those who can’t be directed. It’s a difference in how they approach their craft.
Natalie P is an exceptional actor, but only in the hands of an exceptional director. It’s unfair to knock her for the Star Wars films, it’s Lucas’ cheesy direction – and writing – that’s responsible for making Natalie, Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor, three of the finest actors working today, look like amateurs. Joe Pesci coulda been talking about George when he said “That guy could fuck up a cuppa coffee.”
But what she’s done with world-class direction from the likes of Luc Besson and Tim Burton puts her up there with the likes of Hilary Swank, Julianne Moore and Charlize Theron. She’s a lot more than a gorgeous face, she’s got real chops.
Bottom line, as a person or actor, she’s got enough substance to make this project worth a shot. Sure beats sitting and looking at Whoopi Goldberg.

And you got one thing right, mark – I’m here ta tell ya, Gary Oldman has got-to-be the all-time greatest psycho badass – Zorg, Stansfield, Dr. Smith, Dracula, Korshunov – evil, evil, evil and always stamped with his unique style. Not even Christopher Walken or Jack Nicholson can touch this guy…
You guys realize that this is pure, unadulterated horse puckey right? You don’t actually think for a single second that this has even a miligram of truth to it do you?
Get a grip guys….
Sounds like BS to me. Portman seems too classy and private to ever go for something like this.
Unless we’re talking true 24×7 coverage (including cameras in the bathroom) – not 1 second unfilmed, what’s the point?
Well, you guys have to consider that she is studying psychology in college. Maybe she sees this as some kind of psychological experiment to witness first hand the effects of being watched 24/7.
Or maybe she has a fetish to being watched…

“Or maybe she has a fetish to being watched…”
Have you ever heard of an actor who doesn’t?
