Teens at California school getting high on medical marijuana

Officials at the Grossmont Union High School District have sent letters home to parents, notifying them that a number of students have been caught on campus with medical marijuana cards.

District official Catherine Martin said they are concerned over the growing trend and the “apparent ease” with which teens are able to obtain the cards.

In the letters, parents, students and faculty are reminded that even if the cards are valid, it is against the law to have marijuana on school property.

Recently two East County teenagers were suspended for showing up at school high, with a medical marijuana card as their excuse, NBC 7/39 reported.

During a series of recent undercover sting operations, district attorney investigators identified four or five local doctors who are issuing cards or prescriptions without proper exams or follow up medical care.

Mission Valley is one location where officials said illegal drug trafficking has taken place.

San Diego District Attorney Narcotic Chief Damon Mosler told NBC 7/39 a bogus symptom and some cash is all a teenager needs to obtain a medical marijuana card.

Why is the school getting into the middle of a doctor-patient relationship, again? Ten-to-one there’s drug war bullcrap behind this somewhere.

I hate the laws against marijuana.

I need it so bad for depression, it’s the only thing that gets me up and makes me feel like eating… screw eating, it’s the only thing that makes me feel like going on with life.

At least they let me get drunk to bury the pain. Getting drunk is legal, and how much harm can a depressant, that suppresses all rational thought, cause?

Pardon me, I have to drive home now — hope your family’s not on the road…

#8…hhopper….yep….it’s actually very easy to get one. In the Bay area, it’s almost to easy, more people have Medical Marijuana cards than legal immigration cards. 🙂

I have a cousin that lives in Butte County…..just north of Sacramento…because there are no medical marijuana shops in that area, their neighbor across the street is allowed to grow his own. He is allowed 10 plants(though he sometimes has as many as 60 my Cuz says. He has a paper that the County Sherriffs office issues that he must keep posted on the fence around the plants when he moves them outside in the spring, that shows he’s allowed to grow the pot. No busts that way.

And, just this past week the County Commissioners heard from the sherriff that he wants all of the medical marijuana card holders to buy a special permit card that would register them with all the local police departments so if they get arrested, it will show they are allowed the pot and it won’t be confiscated(they can’t return it after they find out your a card holder under the present system), and they won’t be taken in to the jail, fined or kept overnight…..the cost of the new card would be 189.00. I guess it’s a **get out of jail free card**.
