Here’s a better hobby, taking pics of the guys who do this in the first place. See how it pays off for them with their girlfriends and wives.

University student suspended for ‘up-the-skirt’ photos : National : Home — This is apparently a huge problem in Japan and Korea. But it seems to be cropping up everywhere. I mean, cripes! It’s ridiculous. Are we trying to discourage women from wearing skirts?

A student at Seoul National University has been suspended for taking photographs up women’s skirts in the school library. He had been set to graduate this month.

The 26-year-old dentistry student was caught in the act on November 9 after a Ms. Jeong, a medical student, noticed a flash under the table where she was studying in the school’s main library. She escorted the suspect, a Mr. Jeon, who had been sitting across from her, outside and confronted him.

Jeon initially denied the crime, but he was found to have 50 “up-the-skirt” photographs of women’s legs and underwear stored on his digital camera. At the police station, he finally admitted to taking Ms. Jeong’s picture.

  1. Yeah, that’s kind of crazy. 🙁

Creepy, but is it illegal? It’s my understanding that you can take pictures of anyone in public without consent (using it for advertisements or for other things may require a release form, but just a picture I believe doesn’t). This is just taking them at unique angles.

I am in NO WAY endorsing this, and I do think it’s creepy, but I just don’t think that it is illegal.

    From the article:
“We hope this punishment brings an end to heinous crimes like these.”

I think that “heinous crimes like these” is a bit of an over-reaction. It’s a picture. A picture of the same girl in a bathing suit would reveal more.

Just my opinion, as messed up as it may be

  4. chitown says:

unique angles huh? I wonder do men wearing kilts have the same problem as woman wearing skirts.

I get your point Kevin. it’s just that this reminds me of a quote from a Conan story. “Civilized men are ruder than Barbarians, because they don’t have to worry about getting their heads lopped off.”

  5. Erik Blazynski says:

#3 This is in China, are you THAT familiar with Chinese law that you can determine the legality of such actions?

They will probably incarcerate him and harvest his organs

  6. curmudgen says:

I don’t wish to stir the cauldron but lately crotch shots have become the thing for the paparazzi and the pubic 🙂 that views them. Can we expect arrests for the same practices by your everyday perv??

Can niver find a spell checkker when you need one??

  7. Kevin:
The picture wasn’t taken in the US of A.
Anyway you are correct, just about everything is fair game and you don’t have to show anyone what you shoot. The camera and images are your personal property.

You can walk up to someone and take their picture in a public place and their is anything anyone can do to you except attempt to punch you.

Photography is an art and people make great subjects.

You are not allot to take photos in a hospital and a persons home with out permission. This is considered invasion of privacy.

What you do with the image after that is a different story.
You certainly are not allowed to use an image for advertisement with out consent.

Placing a camera under a womans skirt falls under a gray area of the law. Just not a cool thing to do….The creepy part of this is knowing that
their are doctors that are perverts.

Stick to the ten commandments when it comes to shooting.
Do un to others as you would want them to do un to you.

Agreed– hands down a great way to combat it. (Send a copy to his employer too, when applicable.)

    #5 – This is in China…

    It’s Korea…

  10. Keep in mind, he was arrested for sex crime violation and suspended.
Universities have their code of conduct .

  11. Kevin says:

    #10

Private organizations (Universities) can do what they wish based on their own conduct and rules, but criminal charges I think would be excessive. This being in China or Korea, not the U.S., makes this just an intellectual exercise.

#7 “Do un to others as you would want them to do un to you” can be a very bad idea. I have some friends who are into some really kinky stuff that I would not want done to me, but by that definition they should do it to everyone else. I think it’s better to treat everyone with respect and treat them how they want to be treated (within reason of course, some people want to be treated like royalty and don’t deserve it).

#5 I know next to nothing about China (or Korea for that matter) so I really can’t comment. It was assumed that if it happened in the U.S. (since I assumed it without reading the article fully, my mistake). But I do see your point about different societal norms and what is acceptable (though I don’t know about the organ harvesting)

  12. Greg Allen says:

    What an idiot!

He didn’t bother to turn off his flash! Did he really think the women wouldn’t notice a flash coming up at them from down there?

  13. #12
Greg I agree but if he turned of the flash he ain’t going to see anything.?
Up skirt photos are a goofy Fetish.
    Kevin,
I was referring to the bible and Ten commandments.

  14. TJGeezer says:

Which commandment is “It ain’t a sin if you don’t get caught”?

Is there a clear difference between “stupid” and “sinfully stupid,” and which does the guy in the picture fall under?

  15. WokTiny says:

what’s so great about a crotch shot anyway?

#11 in that light “do unto others…” might be better stated “don’t do what you find deplorable.”

also, what’s with the random “slow down cowboy” messages? I’m not going that fast…

  16. Mr. Fusion says:

#15, also, what’s with the random “slow down cowboy” messages? I’m not going that fast…

That only happens to the good looking, intelligent people.

  17. chubbynutt says:

yeah……creepy…….so where can you see these pics that he took?? lol. seriously though, it is only a misdemeanor. “Public voyeurism.” Of course those girls who wear those really short skirts and position themselves just right seem to be asking for it, but by all means ASK FIRST!!

  18. jasmo says:

gd 1 i say if women didnt want men to look up there skirts why do they were them then?????

  19. DSvT says:

    It is crazy~
he should be sorry about that~

  20. dude says:

Women should stop wearing skirts, it drives me crazy.

  21. guy says:

Why is this a problem when girls constantly flash their panties at guys? Sitting in the food garden at the mall, you can see more underwear than in the department stores. All ages, from high school to MILF types. Those short skirts show the little triangle even when legs are together. So, why not look?

  22. Very stupid boy!

  23. David says:

DO NOT take pictures up men’s kilts! The VAST MAJORITY of men DO NOT upskirt women! Is it really worth it victimizing innocent men at the cost of a few guilty ones?
